Why is this job important?
The Database Administrator will be responsible for managing a large distributed database environment utilizing primarily MS SQL Server for a global customer base, while ensuring 24/7 availability. The position will require a deep understanding of database administration, data backup & recovery, security, query tuning, maintenance and configuration. The ideal candidate will have proven technical experience with a solid foundation
As a Database Administrator, a typical day might include:
Provide support on all the stages of database implementation and/or database related deployments
Run diagnostic tools to identify database current and future performance bottlenecks and take appropriate corrective actions to improve database performance.
Work with development teams to tune and optimize queries.
Troubleshoot performance and non-performance related issues either independently or in conjunction with other DBAs.
Determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards.
Ensure 24/7 availability, security & integrity of the production application environment. This will include 24/7 on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis.
This job might be for you if:
1-3 years MS SQL Server experience1+ years DB support role in a 24x7 production environment
General SQL Query Tuning and database performance optimization experience
DB Patching and Upgrade skills in production environment
SQL Server High Availability and clustering experience
Bonus points for:
Experience with MySQL 5.x a plus
Experience with LINUX server a plus
Experience maintaining a high volume, mission critical application in a SaaS environment
Experience with Windows Server administration
