Position Summary

The Data Steward will be responsible for the implementation of the data governance plan within the Professional Services organization to ensure accuracy and consistency in the data. The Data Steward works closely with key personnel in Sales, Marketing, IT and Legal in supporting the management, governance and quality of commercial data. This individual will act as the point of contact for master data management issues. This role will leverage familiarity with the pharmaceutical data and an exceptional attention to detail to execute data quality data control, correction and maintenance processes. This individual reports to the Sr. Director of Application Services team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing defined policies for the operational management of US Pharma's systems and data (including intake, storage, processing, translating, and integrating with internal and external systems)
  • Overseeing the lifecycle of various datasets, from procurement to usage
  • Understanding business rules and auditing their application to ensure accuracy in alignment with the data governance strategy
  • Triaging and addressing quality issues related to data
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical data lifecycle (generation through end use)
  • Experience executing defined data governance models
  • Knowledge of MDM, BI, CRM required; experience with Oracle, AWS, Veeva, CRM and AWS big data environment a plus
  • Proven self-starter with high standards of excellence and an innovative mind 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines 
  • Exercise independent judgement in critical situations and discretion in matter of significance
  • Excels at interacting with a diverse group of people, all levels of management, including senior leadership
  • Subject Matter Expert in Data Management and Stewardship
  • Provide input to Data Owners and Data Governance Council on all data quality issues
  • Work with business to identify core data requirements to support business needs
  • Work with ETL, BI developers and data architects to uphold consistent modeling and presentation of data
  • Create and maintain process for data vendor management as it relates to quality and accuracy and enforcement of standards
  • Maintain data quality improvement process
  • Profile legacy and perspective data to identify quality issues or gaps
  • Establish business rules for acquisition, maintenance and use of data
  • Establish business rules to identify data and/or analysis gaps
  • Establish data quality expectations (accuracy, integrity and timeliness)
  • Ensure quality of deliverables through appropriate quality control testing and review
  • Establish common data definitions
  • Ensure data is used and distributed in a compliant manner
  • Maintain Master Data Management process
  • Track movement of data throughout business
  • Prioritize data acquisition and onboarding to meet business requirements
  • Refine and maintain data feed metric reporting for (Data Quality, Data Redundancy, Vendor Management)
  • Understand and conduct work consistent with all applicable regulations, internal SOPs and training. Performs and records work in accordance with these documents

Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of coursework and equivalent industry experience
  • PREFERRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 4+ years experience working in the pharmaceutical industry
  • 2+ years of experience working with Master Data Management
  • 4+ years of experience working with MS Access, MS Excel
  • 2+ years of experience working with database query tools (Toad, MS Studio)
  • 2+ years of experience working with databases (Oracle, MS SQL)
  • Experience in data modeling and data profiling/validation
  • Experience with Quality Control
  • Experience with Data Governance
  • Experience utilizing SharePoint is a plus
  • Experience with Pharmaceutical Sales and/or Marketing
  • Project Management experience is a plus
