Headquartered in Cambridge, MA, Quick Base is the leader in an exciting new category of software companies. At Quick Base, we believe that exceptional employees are not only the key to our success, but also to our customers’ success. Our teams are small, diverse, nimble and highly empowered to drive Development excellence. Each team owns its own commitments and outcomes. Our employees enjoy interesting challenges, learn fast, and strive to do the best work of their life.

Position Overview:

The Data Architect is responsible for defining, cultivating, and driving a vision that will reshape the way we all utilize the mountains of data available to our stakeholders.

Both external and internal stakeholders need to make data-driven decisions. A unified strategy for extracting, storing, and reporting on the data is necessary for everyone to quickly and accurately answer their own questions without assistance. Some examples include:

  • Customers: Governance features such as Audit Trail, TLS version usage, last-accessed information, and platform-wide usage (to demonstrate our value)
  • Business: platform usage trends such as active user growth rates
  • Engineers: Feature usage such as field counts

Today, a small percentage of this information is available via disparate, aging, slow technologies. A modern, unified approach is needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Closely and continuously partner with all departments to determine and prioritize high level use cases. Drive lower-level use cases with the appropriate teams.
  • Drive an efficient design behind the data storage and reporting required to satisfy those use cases. This includes technology decisions, PoC’s, RFP’s, etc.
  • Shepherd key attitudes such as Single Source of Truth and Customer First
  • Implement and co-implement the required technology and services
  • Define and measure key outcomes. Adjust accordingly.
  • Ensure the implementations will perform as desired. A clear understanding of our current and future use cases is key
  • Define and protect a set of principles to ensure we value things such as:
    • Customer-first attitude
    • Single source of truth
    • Unified reporting
    • Self-service
    • Collect everything now, figure out what to analyze later
  • Keep up with industry standards and trends; cascade information as appropriate
