As Toast continues to scale, we are looking for a passionate growth minded leader to take the marketing engineering team to the next level. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt in a fast paced environment while developing processes to scale and establishing the guardrails needed to sustain high quality output. This role will partner with cross functional leaders from across the organization to ensure we have the support and can provide the support needed to meet our business needs.


The ideal candidate should have a high degree of technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and a successful track record of managing and scaling high performing web development teams. This person is expected to understand full stack web development, infrastructure architecture, and the latest in marketing technology. They will need to be able to understand business objectives as they develop and prioritize the short and long term roadmap. 


About this roll (Responsibilities):

  • Lead a high performing web engineering team focused on developing best-in-class web experiences that ensure the company hits top of funnel goals.
  • Building cross functional relationships with other peers across the company
  • Ensure quality end-to-end deployment and delivery, including team ownership of monitoring and production issue remediation, and collaboration with QA
  • Influence architecture decisions in your team and more broadly across Toast to optimize developer efficiency
  • Scale the organization through hiring and creating professional growth opportunities for the members of your team
  • Mentor and coach both new and experienced Engineering Managers & Team Leads 
  • Improve, manage, and scale on overall development processes


Do you have the right ingredients? (Requirement)

  • 10+ years of ecommerce experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills
  • Has a growth mindset with a proven track record of driving best of class web based technology
  • Management experience leading and scaling a high performance web development teams
  • Deep knowledge of end to end modern content management systems and backend architecture, development processes, and the latest marketing technologies.
