The engineer partners directly with customer engineering and executive stakeholders, translates field challenges into product improvements, and writes production code across infrastructure and backend layers.

Lead Cohere’s Data Foundation pillar, managing a team responsible for the full data lifecycle. Own the roadmap, BigQuery warehouse, Airflow and Cloud Run orchestration, dbt modeling, Looker and API serving, Terraform infrastructure, governance, access controls, reliability, incident response, and data freshness SLAs. Lead development of an agentic analytics platform and evaluation framework, establish company-wide analytics standards, and partner with product, engineering, security, legal, and business teams.

Design and scale Cohere’s Model Vault backend and inference platform. Lead architecture for authentication, deployments, billing, metering, customer lifecycle, and cloud control-plane services. Build reliable distributed systems with strong guarantees for security, privacy, consistency, isolation, observability, and failure recovery. Own and evolve Cohere’s Waypoint design system across Figma and production code. Responsibilities include maintaining component libraries, design tokens, documentation, sync tooling, and component packages; partnering with designers and engineers; making architecture and versioning decisions; and exploring how AI models can consume design systems. The role also supports accessibility, multi-platform systems, and design-to-code workflows.

Build and maintain internal applications that support annotators, ML researchers, product managers, and other stakeholders. Develop user-facing browser and server experiences using full-stack technologies, design resilient mission-critical systems, improve engineering velocity, and collaborate through pairing, architecture, documentation, and technical talks. Monitor and analyze relevant developments, develop policy positions, engage governments and cross-functional teams, represent Cohere in public discussions, and produce policy analysis and thought leadership to inform strategic business opportunities and public-private partnerships.

Lead Cohere’s corporate development strategy across M&A, strategic partnerships, market expansion, and government relationships. Evaluate acquisitions and investments, lead due diligence and post-merger integration, develop market-entry and partnership frameworks, negotiate complex alliances, and create joint go-to-market strategies. The role partners closely with product, engineering, legal, finance, sales, marketing, policy, and government relations teams to support sovereign AI deployments, regulatory compliance, revenue growth, and international expansion.

Own the full sales cycle for State, Local, and Higher Education (SLED) customers in the Western US. Drive net-new acquisition via outbound outreach, partner/channel engagement, and executive relationships. Collaborate with SDRs, Sales Engineering, Product, and Customer Success to deliver proofs-of-concept, navigate procurement, and close deals while shaping product priorities with customer feedback.

Drive Cohere's AWS-sourced and AWS-influenced partner pipeline. Define and execute partner GTM for the Enterprise Market; recruit, onboard, enable and certify partners; lead co-selling, joint pipeline generation, business planning and QBRs; relay partner feedback to product and policy teams and evangelize Cohere at events.

Build and maintain integrations for North's agentic platform, own the end-to-end integration pipeline, create evals and tests to ensure reliability, tune tool descriptions, and help other engineers add and maintain integrations while using AI responsibly to improve performance and quality.
