EzCater, a foodtech company headquartered in Boston, announced its upcoming acquisition by ride-hailing giant Uber. EzCater, which specializes in catering and workplace meals, will join Uber in an all-cash transaction valued at $2.3 billion.

“We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Uber. Our team is proud of what we’ve built — the leading platform for workplace catering, and a major growth channel for our restaurant partners,” Nihad Rahman, ezCater’s CEO, said in a statement. “We’re energized to bring our catering and B2B expertise to Uber’s global ecosystem of customers, merchants and couriers.”

The company lets organizations order food from over 140,000 restaurants across the country. Alongside supporting events, meetings and recurring orders, it provides tools for managing those orders, monitoring food spend and accessing 24/7 customer support. Uber will incorporate ezCater’s catering and B2B expertise into its Uber Eats business. The combination will help grow ezCater through Uber’s global reach and Uber for Business’s deep relationships with various organizations. The transaction is set to close in the coming months.
