Overview:
SimpliSafe is seeking a strategist to work directly with our founder and CEO to drive and define our corporate strategy and product strategy. In this role you will provide key fact-based insights to define SimpliSafe's roadmap and prioritize market positioning for both domestic and international markets. In this role you will:
- Lead primary market research (qualitative and quantitative)
- Mine existing databases for user insights to inform product development and other strategy questions
- Assess market dynamics, define and characterize target markets
- Frame, source and articulate VoC to support product development (e.g., pricing strategy, product positioning, etc.)
- Support Technology and Product development initiatives
- Quantify business potential and risk for growth opportunities
- Integrate internal and external perspectives to drive alignment in execution of market research
- Provide insight into new product performance for both SimpliSafe and competitors
- Monitor and report customer and market activities and trends to deliver actionable insights to the organization
- Build and maintain customer segmentation models for the business
- Leverage secondary information sources to provide long term forecasts of market trends and growth potential
- Inspire and elevate those around you with your humility and deep curiosity
Qualifications:
- B.A. or B.S. degree in economics, engineering, or other technical field a plus. Advanced degree in a quantitative field (MBA, Masters or PhD) preferred
- Minimum 3+ years of basic market research skills with a strong emphasis on quantitative experience and product research, preferably at a strategy consulting firm or at a consumer-oriented company
- Ethnography background and one-on-one interviewing skills a plus
- Analytical with quantitative and qualitative data – framing, conducting research first hand, analyzing results and synthesizing recommendations
- Competent in financial analysis as it relates to product investment (e.g., NPV, IRR, payback periods)
- Deeply experienced in developing fact-based, market-driven insights and building internal alignment
- Highly collaborative team player able to lead cross functional projects
- Effectively engage team members across various levels
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication skills – oral and written
- Intellectually curious with a strong bias towards action
