Staff Accountant

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Staff Accountant will assist in the daily accounting operations of the company, help to streamline vital accounting practices and strengthen internal controls. The ideal candidate is highly motivated with a broad understanding of accounting and finance functions and exemplary analytical skills.


  • Manage accounts payable, including coding and payment of credit card charges and vendor bills and administration of employee expenses reporting system and process
  • Manage accounts receivable, including oversight of billing and revenue recognition procedures
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of month end balance sheet and P&L accounts
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, prepare monthly commission reports, and oversee all federal, state and local tax compliance
  • Support the annual budgeting and planning process and provide periodic expense and revenue forecasts
  • Prepare and interpret financial reports and analyses
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of  internal financial structures, procedures and practices.
  • Oversee preparation of year end 1099s, annual insurance updates, and state registration process
  • Provide support for annual audits and tax filings, including implementation and maintenance of financial records retention policy
  • Process stock option documentation for current and past employees, and support investor requests for information

Who we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2-3 years of accounting experience
  • Advanced Excel skills required; Experience with QBO, Adaptive Insights, and/or Concur a plus
  • Detail oriented, with strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to work efficiently and with minimal supervision
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team-oriented environment

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

I collaborate with others in the company through our use of Slack, regular all-hands company meetings, inter-team meetings, and our office space. More specifically, our Slack portal has been designed to include many cross functional channels such as product updates, territory-specific team channels and more. Inter-team meetings every 2 weeks, such as the Partner Product PowWow, gives partner-facing teams to learn more about the product development timeline, beta testing and the opportunity to ask questions. Ellevation also has a large open plan office with many different workspaces & locations, which makes it easy to work together & relax!
