BookBub is one of the fastest growing consumer tech startups in Boston. Millions of readers use BookBub every day to find great books, and our service helps thousands of leading publishers and authors drive sales and find new fans. Connecting readers with great deals on ebooks is just the beginning for BookBub. We're growing our team to launch new consumer-facing book discovery features, tools for authors and publishers, and other web and mobile products that address the digital transition of the publishing industry.
The Job
BookBub seeks a product leader to help drive some of our core products and initiatives such as featured deals, ad auction platform, bookmarking and author following tools for readers, international expansion, mobile apps, and other early-stage reader discovery and publisher marketing tools. Responsibilities include:
- Assessing customer needs, competitive products, and internal assets to prioritize what to build for achieving top-level product and business goals
- Working with software engineers, UX designers, and other members of the BookBub team to scope initiatives, draft wireframes, and launch or upgrade products
- Coordinating with marketing, business development, and others in the organization to drive customer adoption of initiatives and products
- Running tests and data analysis to assess success in achieving planned goals and ensuring quality
Attributes of an Ideal Candidate
- An aptitude for turning high-level strategic long-term goals into specific actionable near-term initiatives that drive product innovation efficiently
- A strong ability to assess customer needs and preferences through user surveys, A/B testing, market research, data analysis, and rapid experimentation
- Superior project and general management skills in order to gain consensus from stakeholders, forecast timetables, and coordinate work across the organization
- A deep understanding of how internet services are built and work, and an ability to collaborate with the engineering team to build great products
- Strong instincts around user experience and a passion for understanding consumer behavior to create great experiences in conjunction with designers
- The ability to work independently, self-manage, and both set and meet ambitious goals
- Excellent data analysis skills and general acumen for making strategic business decisions
- Previous product management experience, preferably at a consumer web company
- MBA and/or Bachelor’s degree in management and/or computer science a plus
