Our team is looking for a Director of Tax, Treasury and Risk Management. This role is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced tax professional seeking a fast paced, dynamic and high energy work environment. The Director of Tax, Treasury and Risk Management will be responsible for overseeing all tax compliance and tax planning functions for the company, including federal and state income, tangible and intangible property, gross receipts, annual reports, sales, use, license, excise, franchise, employment, transfer, and other taxes.

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, additional duties will include: developing processes and internal controls; reviewing federal, quarterly estimated payments and other tax payments; projecting cash flows for income tax payments; responding to various taxing authority notices; performing due diligence in mergers and acquisitions; and directing federal and state audits. 

What you'll be doing:

  • Direct/review all tax return compliance, including workpapers
  • Review calculations of estimates, payments
  • Research as needed for compliance
  • Research as requested by Management
  • Calculate the Company’s overall effective tax rate and preparing all disclosures necessary to comply with ASC 740
  • Manage maintenance of tax basis fixed assets
  • Direct, create, install, analyze and document tax controls
  • Direct state and federal audits
  • Direct outside tax advisors in various projects
  • Tax planning in order to maximize favorable cash flow, reduce effective rate, and reduce tax expense
  • Due diligence in mergers and acquisitions
  • Credit agreement monitoring and interpretation
  • Cash management and debt reporting
  • Identify and acquire necessary breadth of insurance coverage as needed as well as provide annual and specific Certificates of Insurance to customers and vendors

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Taxation required
  • Master's degree and/or JD preferred
  • CPA and Big 4 tax experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive tax experience (with a blend of public accounting and public multinational retail experience a plus)
  • Strong technical knowledge of SALT and accounting, SEC rules and requirements and knowledge of indirect tax compliance in the U.S. (i.e., sales & use tax) and other countries (e.g. GST/VAT)
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. combined and separate-state tax returns and ASC 740
  • Experience in interacting with auditors, audit defense and tax appeals
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Track record of driving organizational change and improving functions
  • Ability to respond to, prioritize effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining the highest of standards of completeness and accuracy
  • Effective and decisive under pressure
  • Strong planning, research, communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills
  • Strong Excel, Word and Power Point skills and strong sense of business ethics, integrity and discretion
