Position Summary:
athenahealth is seeking a Product Management Manager, Sales and Marketing to be a product owner, leading up a scrum team and the team’s prioritized backlog. We seek a leader who has deep knowledge of Salesforce and sales & marketing operations. The leader will ensure that project goals, scope and timelines are clearly defined and outcome focused, working closely with senior leadership and stakeholders to ensure that business requirements are understood and reflected in system requirements and design. The Manager will be part of a cross-functional team of Project Managers, Developers, and Analysts to evolve and optimize the Salesforce experience for the Marketing and Sales organizations at athena. We seek a leader with applicable user facing development and management experience with a keen focus on optimizing the user experience of an impactful user experience. Experience working in Agile and a strong plus.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Product Portfolio Ownership

  • Significantly contribute to the overall platform strategy to support our Marketing and Sales organizations
  • Provide vision for area of responsibility and gain stakeholder alignment
  • Directly responsible for driving KPIs by taking full product backlog ownership for a dedicated scrum team
  • Own and manage product roadmap
  • Lead large scale project that affect multiple departments. Interface with business partners and senior leadership to ensure projects have proper impact.
  • Clearly communicate requirements to development staff
  • Act as an expert in market and competition for your services; Understand what's next and when to stay the course


Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Speak for the product and ensure alignment in the overall strategy
  • Clearly communicate direction and priorities across all stakeholders
  • Drive all Product Launch decisions including the management of all alpha/beta feedback
  • Manage the priorities and expectations of multiple stakeholders (e.g., customer, sales, partners) to gain inputs to portfolio
  • Communicate platform performance utilizing measurable KPIs


Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Degree (Bachelor’s or Masters) in Computer Science, Business, or Product Design preferred
  • 3+ years relevant product management experience (SFDC Sales, Marketing, Service, Community, Chatter Cloud and other enterprise business solutions preferred)
  • 7 years overall professional experiece
  • Technical understanding (mobile, SaaS, data) – ability to gut check technical feasibility and timelines and remove technical development barriers
  • Experience bringing products to market
  • Understanding of product management best practices, including agile development environments; Agile certification a plus
  • Demonstrated success at driving innovation in a dynamic environment
  • Experience designing and managing enterprise solutions
  • Product definition, requirements development, and road mapping
  • Familiarity with sales and marketing processes and organizations with the ability to effectively communicate with sales management. Excellent communication, facilitation and project management skills
  • Ability to collaborate in making sound product design decisions based on internal (business) requirements
  • Ability to document vision and workflow clearly for developers
  • Strong analytical skills
  • We are seeking a candidate with a comprehension ranging from fluency to comprehension in the following technologies:
    • SalesForce and associated applications (Service Cloud, Cloud Coach and Communities), Wave Analytics and Tableau, Eloqua, VOIP technologies including Five9, Resource Hub – Jive, Agile Tools – JIRA Agile Scrum

  • Can engage with enterprise clients and understands how they work and think; can craft approaches that are effective for important external stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills, with energy & enthusiasm for solving unknowns

  • Appreciation for the software development process and the varying personalities in the cross-functional groups we work with
  • Sees ahead clearly, can anticipate future consequences and product trends accurately; has broad knowledge and perspective, and is future oriented.
  • Excellent communication skills, executive presence, and command of group dynamics in order to drive team and stakeholders to effective decisions or consensus
