Company Overview

Cobu (formerly known as Doorbell Communities) is changing the residential living experience by powering genuine community. Born out of seeing loved ones and friends struggle with loneliness in these environments, Cobu has created a platform that enables residents to build a stronger sense of community amongst their neighbors with real, face-to-face interaction.

For building owners, partnering with Cobu results in meaningful differentiation, enhanced renter loyalty, and higher retention. For local and national brands, Cobu offers the opportunity to engage with a hyperlocal, verified, and high value audience by helping build stronger communities. Cobu currently powers community across 3,500 apartments in 15 buildings in Metro Boston with leading multifamily owners and brands.

Cobu has raised funding from several notable investors and has an arsenal of industry experts on our advisory board. Our team is packed with young and energetic tech, community, and business-minded individuals, focused on the mission of powering genuine community.

About the role

The Cobu team is looking for a forward-thinking VP Product who is passionate about building community and has experience building a SaaS and mobile product that can scale. Our team moves quickly and looks to make product decisions based on the beautiful balance of data vs. intuition, with a focus on user testing and rapid iterations. We have an incredible and growing team of engineers in place, and a product already on the market.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about solving user problems and rejoices at the smile of a user who falls in love with a solution the second they see it. Experience with user on-boarding strategies, (technical) product marketing and user experience design are a strong plus.

Cobu is headquartered in Downtown Crossing, Boston.

Responsibilities - VP Product

About this Role

Working directly with the CEO and Engineering Team, you will own all facets of product: knowing our customers (residents, buildings, and brand partners), crafting a vision, managing the product experience, effectively recruiting, managing, leading, and motivating top talent, and being an impactful business partner to other business leaders. You will help define strategic priorities at Cobu, weigh the long-term product roadmap against those priorities, and lead your team through execution. You must demonstrate qualities of an entrepreneur who can effectively scale a startup.

About you

You love understanding communities and consumers, not just through quantitative data but by really getting to know and understand them. You’re passionate about building amazing communities and amazing products. You lead with purpose, ask the tough questions, and have an innate ability to focus and prioritize. You innovate because you know that anything you do today can be improved tomorrow. You are a strong communicator, able to share the story that the numbers are telling. It’s not just enough for you to see the solution, you are able to think critically and make decisions based on your findings. You love to execute. People have called you scrappy. And despite considerable skills and impressive experience, importantly, you are humble. People management is a strength of yours and will be expected in the role. You are a magnet for talent, and people look to you for leadership. You are a leader that seeks to make an impact. A big impact.
