What will you own?

    • Organize the compliance aspect of programs by preparing schedules, compiling cost estimates, and identifying required resources including test laboratories and equipment.
    • Research, identify, and understand applicable regulatory compliance standards and codes, with a particular focus on safety and EMC.
    • Work closely with design engineers to communicate relevant compliance constraints, explore solution spaces, and identify and resolve uncertainties in interpretation of standards. Participate in design reviews.
    • Qualify new components and secure relevant documentation and certificates from suppliers as needed.
    • Coordinate with technical leads to assemble documentation and reports that are needed for compliance, such as critical component lists and risk/hazard assessments. 
    • Coordinate with test labs to request quotes, schedule testing, review test reports, and secure compliance certificates.
    • Work with technicians at test lab facilities to help ensure that testing is performed promptly and correctly, and that the device under test is kept operational.
    • Collaborate with engineers to debug, root cause, and resolve compliance issues as they arise. Recommend product and process changes, and initiate engineering change orders as needed.
    • Track and understand emerging compliance engineering practices and standards. Participate in educational opportunities and professional organizations. Read professional publications and maintain personal networks.

What you have:

    • Track record of testing and certifying electro-mechanical products that ship internationally.
    • Expertise in US, Canadian, European (Low Voltage Directive and Machinery Directive), and other global market certification requirements.
    • Proficiency with safety standards such as IEC 60950-1, IEC 62368-1, IEC 60204-1, etc and associated test equipment and procedures.
    • Familiarity with EMC standards such as IEC 55032, IEC 55024, etc and associated test equipment and procedures.
    • Ability to perform hazard and risk assessments and compile critical component lists.
    • Strong grasp of concepts such as “fire enclosure”, “ground bond”, “ESD”, and “creepage and clearance”.
    • Experience working with test labs local to the Boston area is preferred.
    • Experience with PLM systems is preferred.
    • Capability to navigate and review designs in mechanical and electrical CAD (for example Solidworks and Altium) is preferred.
    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields, or equivalent industry experience
    • Excellent verbal and written communication in English is required
