Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a Design Engineer in our Andover, Massachusetts location.  In this role assist with development of new products and subassemblies and design and test the production of prototypes.   Specifically, with our Single Phase UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) products line.

What do you get to do in this position? 

  • Performs design verification testing of complex power supply systems and controllers
  • Performs bench level testing of complex power supply circuitry – PFC, Inverter, Battery Chargers, control circuits etc.
  • Performs compliance testing of UPS systems – EMI, EMC, Product Safety
  • Troubleshoot and solve field and factory quality issues using root cause analysis
  • Implement Factory Test Processes
  • Write, edit and approve product test specifications, engineering change orders, part qualifications and part specifications.
  • Global responsibility for qualification of electronic and electro-mechanical components for 5 to 20 KVA UPS systems including:
    • Power semiconductors -FET, IGBT, Diodes
    • Magnetic devices – transformers, inductors
    • Control devices – microprocessors, FPGAs, A to D
    • Passive devices – electrolytic capacitors small and large can and SMT, resistors, film capacitors
    • Signal transistors, FETs and diodes
    • Lead Acid batteries

This job might be for you if: 

  • You have an understanding of environmental component compliance (ROHS) and how to utilize lab equipment for testing – oscilloscopes, analyzers, loads and AC and DC sources.
  • You are familiar with firmware state machines and UPS control
  • You have troubleshooting skills of complex electronic circuits to the component level
  • You are quality conscious
  • You are proficient with MS Office tools – Excel, Word, Power point
  • You have working knowledge of CAD tools, PCB Design and Mechanical Design
