Director of Product

The TripAdvisor Content team is seeking an experienced Director, Product to help us ensure that content posted to the site is timely, relevant and trustworthy. You will work on products, tools and infrastructure that continually improve how we process, moderate and prevent abuse of content and listings.

 In this role, you will guide product strategy and prioritization, coordinate work across initiatives and liaise with stakeholders across TripAdvisor. You will translate business needs into product plans that incorporate appropriate research and stakeholder input. Your communication skills allow you to excel at collaborating in a global, distributed team environment.

On the Content team, you will have ownership over initiatives that shape the very core of TripAdvisor, and contribute directly to the company’s growth and success.

 The Director, Product reports to the VP, Content and will be based in our Needham office.

 What You’ll Do:

  • Define the long-term product strategy and associated roadmap for content operations and fraud prevention

  • Identify and form creative solutions for unmet opportunities that increase trust and reduce risk

  • Build business cases and analytical support/insight for new initiatives; this requires identifying and understanding key issues, quantitatively analyzing these issues, and communicating key insights and results

  • Translate global business and consumer needs into requirements and work with Engineering including machine learning to deliver solutions that improve our tools, systems, infrastructure and user experience

  • Develop scalable processes in a high volume environment

  • Define success metrics for new projects and track them on a regular basis to ensure that all projects and existing functionality are moving toward our defined goals

  • Serve as the product champion of our team’s remit and influence decision-making at the highest levels of the company

  • Balance competing resources and priorities and the associated trade-offs

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business unit Product teams, Engineering, Analytics, Legal, Content Policy, Customer Support, PR and other stakeholders across TripAdvisor to prevent and mitigate incidents that impact trust and safety

  • Monitor the competitive landscape to understand how our product offering stacks up against our direct competitors

 What We’re Looking For:

  • 8+ years of product management experience

  • 2+ years successfully managing and mentoring a team of direct reports

  • Prior experience with content moderation, fraud and/or product-focused trust and safety initiatives

  • Familiarity assessing, implementing, and managing external vendor and partner relationships

  • Consistent track record of executing cross-functional initiatives, ensuring multiple projects are completed in an appropriate and timely manner

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and trends, diagnose problems, and recommend effective action plans to resolve issues

  • Excellent communication to effectively and efficiently articulate both strategic vision and specific details to various stakeholders, from senior leadership to individual contributors. Ability to write and or guide clear and concise product requirements, status updates and product results.

  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills are essential

  • Understanding of machine learning is a plus
