MIT Technology Review seeks a product designer to play a central role in shaping the user interface of its digital ecosystem, ranging from editorial tools to reader-facing web presences, digital magazines, and marketing tools.

 

Will take projects from conceptual questions through pixel-perfect visuals, developing an extensible process along the way that brings excellence regardless of project timeline.  Responsibilities include interpreting brand elements into clean, clear, and balanced user interface elements; proposing, championing, and delivering user interface design solutions that leverage typography, iconography, visual composition, and interaction and animation/motion design best practices; illustrating and articulating design ideas using conceptual wireframes, storyboards, information architecture diagrams, high-fidelity mockups, interaction specifications, and final graphics; creating and maintaining a set of design and visual patterns to strengthen consistency across products; rapidly iterating through multiple concepts and prototypes; creating new user-centered designs; delivering prototypes and clear requirements to describe interactions and motion to enhance UI; communicating design concepts visually, clearly, and concisely across different audiences; designing and maintaining design systems and libraries to ensure product-wide visual consistency. 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, fine arts, or related field
  • At least three years’ digital product design experience
  • Proficiency with user interface design software, e.g., Figma, Flinto, etc.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of user-centered design principles in the context of current industry standards and trends in UI/UX design, interaction design patterns, and cross-platform responsive design
  • Excellent visual design skills, keen eye for details, and a modern design aesthetic
  • Experience with prototyping UI interactivity and incorporating motion/animation into UI
  • Willingness and ability to take initiative, propose design ideas that exceed expectations, and take risks
