POSITION:
We’re looking for an engaging and detail-oriented attorney with a primary focus on establishing and maintaining online platforms, including terms of service/online contracts, data security and privacy compliance, as well as intellectual property (IP) and licensing issues. This e-commerce attorney will also advise on the complexities of conducting cross-border retail sales online. This role will help advise the business on the suite of contractual documents that are necessary to establish and operate a software platform in the digital marketplace, and will ensure the business is compliant with the relevant regulations to effectively run a software platform in the global digital marketplace (e.g. FTC, CA auto-renewal, ADA, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, etc.).
This position will also assist in providing support on a variety of other legal projects and day-to-day tasks of the legal department including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, intellectual property and other legal and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will be excited to learn new areas of the law and continuously challenge him/herself to add value to the company.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:
- Interpret, advise, and provide strategic practical business advice cross-departmentally on applicable laws, ruling and regulations relevant to e-commerce, including in the areas of data privacy, consumer protection, marketing and online payments;
- Draft, review, and negotiate all types of agreements, with an emphasis on e-commerce transactions agreements, such as content and online service provider agreements, reseller/distributor agreements, marketing and vendor agreements;
- Collaborate with other members of the legal department as well as other departments to align on best practices, and create and implement processes, tools, templates and training to enhance efficiency and consistency; and
- Keep informed on new laws and industry trends that could affect the company.

- JD degree from an accredited law school required
- Active member in good standing of a state bar association
- 5+ years of experience as a licensed attorney
- Experience working with e-commerce related matters (product led growth companies preferred)
- Ideally CIPP/US certified or relevant experience
- Experience working for a SaaS company or for a law firm preferred
- A multi-tasker with excellent analytical and legal skills
- Ability to understand business needs and partner with the business to create solutions
- Effective understanding of the interplay between legal and business risk
- Strong work ethic, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
