We're looking for a Confluence content manager & administrator to join our Collaboration team in Business Enablement. We evaluate, select and operate the video conferencing and content management collaboration tools which are important in the daily work of HubSpot staff. Our Confluence wiki is an essential component of communicating daily notable activities and workplace content such as benefits, announcements, and at its core useful information customized to each of our own roles in helping HubSpot grow and thrive.

As our Wiki Content Manager you'll help your coworkers improve their ability to communicate and access timely, relevant and important information on demand.
IT is responsible for the operational health of HubSpot's internal Confluence wiki, and content creation and management have been largely self-service. As we scale up we're seeing an increasing need for a dedicated collaboration and knowledge manager to help HubSpotters get the most out of the wiki. You'll train and advise users on Confluence content creation, formatting, macros, templates, plugins etc. We want to provide the following:

  • an easily customizable landing-page template personalized to the needs and desires of our people.
  • an archiving solution to prune outdated content and improve search results
  • spaces with easily customizable themes
  • useful third-party add-ons
  • an overall organization an information taxonomy
  • research options for improving enterprise search

This is an exciting "greenfield" opportunity to define the scope of a role that doesn't currently exist at HubSpot.

Familiarity with Confluence configuration and the Confluence add-ons ecosystem is essential. General experience with managing a corporate intranet, and designing an information architecture - taxonomy - site navigation - look-and-feel is highly relevant. Understanding of Confluence markdown, HTML, and CSS is also pertinent.
You may also help perform the operations side of Confluence including software installation and upgrades, third-party adds-on and integrations, monitoring, performance tuning, etc. Our application runs on Linux, so some user experience and administration knowledge this platform will be necessary.

Confluence is part of a larger ecosystem of staff-facing tools, so the role involves some engagement with the rest of our Atlassian suite specifically Jira and Trello, and with other applications and tools (both on-premises and cloud-based) used for authentication, access control, managing content and communications. Administration experience with the other Atlassian apps, or interest in learning them, is a plus.

We're looking for someone experienced and able to hit the ground running, but your ability to learn quickly on the job is equally important. If you don't have the entire skillset we're looking for, we invite you to convince us that you can get up to speed promptly. You must be able to self-educate, set priorities, and manage your workload in a very fast-moving and fairly unstructured environment. We have minimal formal on-the-job-training, but a deep bench of skilled & experience operations folks as resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop an enterprise content management strategy and execute using Confluence.
  • Assist HubSpot staff with our Confluence content management and collaboration tool

Requirements:

  • Deep familiarity with Confluence configuration and the Confluence add-ons ecosystem
  • Experience with collaborative tools, content management, and web design
  • Experience in a customer-facing role (internal or external) and passion for highly visible enterprise support
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time and project-management skills

Strongly desired:

  • Experience managing a corporate intranet and designing an information architecture/taxonomy/site navigation/look-and-feel
  • Understanding of the details of Confluence markdown, HTML, and CSS
  • Proficiency in a scripting/programming language
  • Experience with APIs and tool/service integration
  • Experience with other Atlassian applications (Jira, Trello)
  • Linux familiarity from a system administration perspective

Desired:

  • Familiarity with JavaScript
  • Understanding of configuration management and version control systems
  • Familiarity with databases and SQL competence
