Product Intern: Payments

Toast has built a powerful and easy to use Android tablet based Point of Sale and restaurant platform for restaurants, helping them operate more efficiently and connect with their customer base in new and innovative ways. We have a rapidly growing customer base comprised of cafes, restaurants, bars & nightclubs. The product management team works hand in hand with the engineering development team to steer and guide the process of developing new and improved products from conception to launch.
On the product management team, you will interface with other Toast teams across Product, Engineering, UX, Marketing, Sales, Finance and Customer Support to build and shape innovative products. You will have the opportunity to interface with our restaurant customers (CIOs, CTOs, CMOs, managers and employees) directly to get feedback on product enhancements, issues and usability in order to inspire and inform how Toast continues to iterate and grow.
Responsibilities:
- Develop business cases for medium and long-term Payments Product team initiatives by using internal resources (go direct to our customers! Or to Toasters who interact with customers every day) and external resources.
- Lead efforts to assess the economics of these initiatives with the Product, Product Marketing, and Business Operations teams.
- Work with the Payments Engineering teams to gauge technical development costs.
- Cultivate relationships with Support and Account Management to understand the maintenance costs.
- Convince stakeholders from all over the organization that these initiatives fit into our strategy, or convince them that the strategy needs to evolve to include (or exclude) them.
- Propose process improvements to how the team should evaluate future initiatives.
- Make concrete recommendations. Find answers in uncertainty; unearth the right resources that will provide clarity for these large, complicated problems.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in MBA program
- BA/BS required
- Experience in payments or strategy highly preferred
- Ability to stay on for longer than 3 months will be considered a plus
- Understanding of the hospitality space and the evolving market dynamics will be considered a plus
