Graphic Design Intern- Summer 2018
athenahealth is changing the way the healthcare industry works. athena employs around 100 interns in a variety of departments and office locations each summer. We don't believe in "busy work" around here, so our interns are given challenging projects that directly impact the business. Beyond their day-to-day work, interns also attend speaker seminar series’, social and networking events, and give end-of-summer “business impact presentations” to their department’s leadership team to showcase their work.

About the Creative Services team:
The creative services team supports the marketing department by developing engaging go-to-market materials. We develop concepts and graphics for various marketing materials including emails, Direct Mail, microsites, banner ads, event graphics and other marketing collateral. We are a collaborative team of graphic designers and copywriters lead by a Creative Director.

About Graphic Design Position:
The graphic design intern will team up with copywriters, web developers, and marketing managers to translate concepts into great designs across multiple channels under the guidance of a Graphic Design manager. They will also assist in graphic design production work. The intern will get a good understanding of what it is like to work on an internal creative agency team as well as have the opportunity to create work for their own portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Love of cutting-edge design; stays current and ahead of design trends, including a strong understanding of user-centric design principles
  • Ability to create original design concepts within brand standards
  • Ability to establish visual hierarchy, layout, typography, and color effectively
  • Ability to function as a productive member in a team-focused environment, high level of follow-through and accountability to others
  • Strong organizational skills, extreme attention to detail, commitment to producing excellent work
  • Polished, positive, can-do personality, flexibility and sense of humor
  • Strong understanding of usability principles
