Overview

With a growing customer base, increasing revenues in multiple jurisdictions, increased operational complexity, and rigorous financial reporting requirements, Mimecast is looking to add to its team a proactive, operational, tactical and strategic VP of Financial Operations. Reporting to the CFO, the VP of Financial Operations will coordinate a diverse set of functions and responsibilities. In addition to ensuring the company’s financial activities are optimized, this individual will play an important role in the day-to-day administration and operations of the company, as well as help create and implement the financial strategy of the organization.

Responsibilities

This individual will manage a finance operations function that supports the evolving needs of a fast-paced and high growth business. They will represent Mimecast in a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including, process optimization, compliance, system implementation, geographic expansion and financial and commercial transactions, as well as M&A.

 

  • Provide enterprise-wide leadership and forge substantive relationships throughout the company.
  •  Lead the integration and program management of merger and acquisition transactions, coordinating functions within finance as well as liaising with the rest of the organization during the M&A process and throughout the integration period.
  •  Have strong business experience as well as knowledge of diverse areas of finance including, tax, treasury, budgeting, etc. in order to identify opportunities and coordinate business units with the finance function.
  •  Provide strategic project leadership for the CFO related to key finance projects and transactions reinforcing our core growth drivers and corporate objectives, including establishing and tracking key KPIs.
  •  Have a strong background in process design and system thinking, leading the way for the design, build and management of data driven repeatable automated processes.
  •  Work with the business on geographic expansion initiatives coordinating the implementation of accounting functions internationally.

Qualifications

  • Build a team that will support the CFO in optimizing the finance function including areas such as financial operations, procurement, systems, M&A support and projects
  • Assist with development of strategy for transaction prioritization, including presentation support for Executive Leadership decisions.
  • Work with the CFO on the determination of metrics and continual improvement of processes to ensure Mimecast is optimizing the finance function through appropriate staffing and automation while building partnerships with the rest of the organization.
  • Develop a working knowledge of activities for each functional area in order to design and implement solutions to streamline processes and create operational efficiencies.
  • Help coordinate and develop annual goals into KPIs and track their progress towards achievement.
  • Implement process improvements for transaction tracking, deal management, expert vendor/advisor selection, including engagement fee payments.
  • Assist transaction leads in the development of deal terms and structures.
  • Develop financial models and analytical tools to support function objectives and projects. Drive strategic decisions through use of financial metrics (NPV analysis, ROI modeling, etc.).
  • Provide critical thought to help drive strategic decisions and make recommendations to senior management.

 

Education, Behavioral Competencies and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 15 years of work experience, with at least 10 years of relevant business experience.
  • 5 years of IT/Tech industry experience & commercial understanding
  • Public Company experience
  • Excellent judgement and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Superior management skills, ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Self-reliant, good problem solver and results oriented. Entrepreneurial team player who can multi-task.

 

Licenses/Certifications

CPA or MBA preferred,

 

Travel Requirements

Periodic domestic and international travel will be required.
