Follain is looking for a passionate, detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the finance team at a fast pace growing start-up business. This is a great entry - level opportunity to develop a solid foundation for a career in accounting and/or operations. The nature of the role provides numerous opportunities to own projects, develop skills around inventory management, budgeting, reporting on a variety of levels as well as operational know-how which impacts all parts of a business. The right individual will be inquisitive, process oriented, and obtain superior accuracy and attention to detail. Working closely with other members of the team, this position exposes one to a combination of accounting and operational responsibilities critical for future growth within a business.
Accounting Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the full accounts payable cycle including:
- o New vendor setup
- o Entering and matching invoices to purchase orders
- o Applying payments to open invoices
- o Reconcile vendor accounts payable account to ensure balance is accurate and up to date
- o Manage accounts payable email inbox
- o Respond and resolve any vendor payment questions
- o Assist with Filing
- Manage Accounts Receivable
- o Ensure that cash deposits and credit card deposits tie to sales report
- o Respond to chargeback issues
- Month end close
- o Assist with balance sheet recs
- o Enter journal entries to support month end close
- Inventory and other accounting support
- o Support physical counts
- o Assist with purchase order creation and buying inventory
Operations Responsibilities
- Ecommerce and Merchandise Operations
- o Daily coordination with third party fulfillment company to ensure accuracy and efficiency in inventory handling for ecommerce orders (resolving shipment discrepancies, packaging of products etc.)
- o Order shipping/packaging supplies
- o Assist with the management of the suspect fraud order queue
- Store Operations
- o Assist with questions from stores as it relates to inventory receiving, return to vendor, cycle counts etc.
- o POS system and general store operational support
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 1-2 years experience in related field
- Skilled in MS Office Suite – capable of creating pivot tables and vlookups
- Organize with the ability to priorities and multi-task
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong problem solving skills
- NetSuite ERP experience preferred, expensify experience a plus
