Zipcar is in search of a Staff Accountant to support our New Mobility business segment, an exciting new initiative within Zipcar in three markets in the US with growth plans for continued scaling in 2022. The staff accountant will provide financial and accounting support including ensuring proper recording of all financial transactions to accurately close the period. The staff accountant also will provide summaries of data to create various reports, charts, and analyses relevant to the organization's Accounting function. The individual monitors, analyzes, and reports on various transactions and provides accounting data to the organization's management to assist with strategic planning and monthly financial reporting. This role will work with a high level of autonomy and will report into the business segment CFO.

What you'll do:

• Coordinate monthly general ledger close: validate completeness of journal entry posting, review preliminary financial statements, prepare and record adjusting entries as necessary.
• Address accounting inquiries from other departments
• Monthly reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts
• Tracking invoices to ensure timely posted to the general ledger
• Provide information to internal customers are needed
• Act as the corporate liaison for Finance and Operations
• Assist with internal and external audit requests
• Monthly analysis of the General Ledger, investigate all material variances and provide explanation if accepted, or correct / help facilitate correction if errors are found
• Complete month and YTD Results file for Senior Management review
• Monthly analysis of Revenue and Expense in relation to forecast
• Provide local site support for operations on POs and Invoice questions, when needed
• Other special projects, ad-hoc analysis and reporting
• Conduct research and analyze data to generate actionable insights to solve complex business problems and improve performance of all aspects of the company's business

What drives success for this role:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
• CPA preferred but not required
• 3-5 years of experience in an accounting function
• Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally in a large organization
• Demonstrated experience working closely with senior leadership
• Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP system preferred.
• Intermediate to advance Excel knowledge required.
