Cogito is searching for an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our Finance Team. The ideal candidate for this role has a broad mix of experience across various accounting areas. As the primary accounting resource for Cogito, you will have the opportunity to get exposure to a fast-paced software startup environment and be a key player in the company’s operational scaling and growth.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for posting and reconciling general ledger activities and accounts, as well as development and optimization of internal control policies and procedures. You will administer payroll, assist with audits and the accounting close effort, manage the accounts payable and receivable functions, and be a business partner to the other functions at Cogito.

Responsibilities:

• Administer payroll on a bi-weekly basis, work with the People team on compensation and benefits updates, as well as tax and employment filings
• Assist with the monthly financial close process and related preparation of financial statements
• Perform reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Assist with accounts payable activities including processing invoices, establishing relationships with key vendors, processing employee reimbursement requests, and managing Cogito’s expense reporting solution
• Prepare customer invoices and maintain revenue recognition schedules related to subscription services
• Assist with financial statement analysis and summary of results for the leadership team and investors
• Perform daily treasury and banking activities and assist Finance Manager with cash flow management and forecasting
• Assist with audits, including preparation of audit schedules and reconciliations
• Assist with tax filing preparation
• Implement and optimize controls and process improvements as required
• Manage the company’s credit and purchasing cards
• Perform ad hoc analyses as needed

Requisite Skills / Experience:

• Minimum 4 years experience of accounting experience required 
• Bachelor's Degree Accounting or Finance required, CPA preferred
• Demonstrated ability to work well with others in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Experience with ADP
• Quickbooks Online and Bill.com experience a plus
• Microsoft suite
