Job Summary
This position will require the Senior Accountant to work with PrismHR Delivery Managers, Project Managers, and Project Specialists on the financial tracking of implementation and custom program requests projects. This role is seen as a strategic partner within the Accounting and Professional Services departments to analyze projects in terms of bookings, billings, and revenue recognition. The Senior Accountant will work with both the Director, Professional Services Operations and the Revenue Supervisor to summarize updates on project status, revenue recognition against forecast and billings.Activities include meeting with Project Managers to determine project status, ensuring revenue is posted according to Revenue Accounting ASC606 guidelines, and tracking revenue as compared to forecast. The Senior Accountant will reconcile on a monthly basis various professional services reports to ensure the completeness and accuracy of customer billings and revenue by customer.

Additional ad hoc projects as requested will require analytical skills, the ability to identify process improvements, and establish key controls.

The Senior Accountant with report to the VP of Accounting.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Meet weekly/monthly with each assigned Project Managers to review projects, review forecasts, alert PM and Mgmt to any risks to meeting forecast

  • Review revenue and reconcile against billings and forecast

  • Support Revenue Supervisor in calculating Professional Service Multi Element Arrangement allocations (MEA PS)

  • Track Deferred PS Revenue

  • Provide consistent updates to the Revenue Supervisor in relation to revenue, risks, or non-standard agreements

  • Formal Revenue Accounting Deal Review write-ups

  • Calculate monthly sales representative commissions payments, deferred commission contract asset, and monthly amortization of capitalized commission payments

  • Assist with PS billing as needed

  • Assist with Intacct contract module maintenance (renewals, cancellations, new orders)

  • Manage GL Account Reconciliations

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS and EXPERIENCE: 

  • 8+ years experience working within finance and accounting

  • CPA preferred

  • Salesforce, Financial Force and Sage Intacct experience is preferred

  • Strong Excel skills required

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting

  • Prior experience in a high-tech organization preferred

  • Ability to work on cross functional teams, as well as to work independently

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, resourceful, analytical, and follow through skills

  • Ability to complete projects/reports within established deadlines

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Must be able to work in ever-changing environment and be self directed
