The Financial Analyst will play an integral part of the Finance team at Toast through financial modeling and forecasting, management reporting, financial analytics and metrics (both routine and ad hoc) and process improvement initiatives. We are looking for a highly motivated, energetic candidate with strong FP&A experience.
Responsibilities:
- Drive complex financial modeling development, enhancement and maintenance around bookings, revenue, and expense that enable effective P&L and Cash Flow management and predictability
- Support monthly cadence with business partners to review results, identify and explain variances versus forecast and budget, mitigate risks, and capitalize on opportunities
- Develop and maintain departmental reporting metrics to understand, measure, and drive productivity
- Generate management reporting and financial packages on both an ad hoc and routine basis
- Partner with key stakeholders and business leaders to provide strategic financial insights and recommendations
Requirements:
- Analytical background working directly in FP&A; preferably in a SaaS company
- 5+ years of experience in financial planning, budgeting and forecasting with emphasis balance sheet and cash flow modeling
- Understanding of accounting theory and practice (e.g., basic revenue recognition rules, accruals, company capitalization policies and proper expense timing)
- Advanced Excel modeling skills
- Ability to manage large volumes of data and present concise and clear recommendations of results
- An inquisitive nature, someone who wants to explore variances and understand root causes
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, changing environment and to adapt while focusing on key goals and objectives
Bonus Skills:
- Experience in a high growth tech company, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting
- Strong systems skills with experience in cloud based ERP/Financial System with preference towards NetSuite, Adaptive Planning and Salesforce
- MBA a plus
- Knowledge with multiple revenue streams including SAAS, Payments, Hardware, and Implementation
- Knowledge of SQL, Python or R
