Tripadvisor is searching for a collaborative, analytical and motivated professional as our (Senior) Director of Strategic Finance.  Combining the worlds of finance and strategy, this role will be at the forefront of driving effective and efficient transformation of financial operations, enabling us to respond quickly to the changing needs and strategic direction of the organization. 

We are looking for a different kind of finance person, one who can bring a strategic and operational lens to how we think about our finance.  Helping us to think differently about how our strategy, financial and operational processes come together, create value for the business and have impact on the way that we work.

This is not a traditional finance role, we are looking for someone who can drive change in the organization.  Working closely with our VP of Finance, CFO and CEO to drive visibility into the things that matter most, enabling data driven decision-making, and setting direction for the company moving forward. 

The ideal candidate will be an independent, strategic, and analytical thinker who is a strong team player (no job is too small or too large) with a solution-orientation and growth mindset. 

Responsibilities:

• Lead cross-functional planning processes with our executive leadership team to help set our companies objectives, determine measurable objectives that will help realize our vision and ensure that we are are effectively allocating resources

• Drive our long-term strategic plan for the business and key strategic initiatives

• Collaborate with finance and business leaders to develop cases for our most strategic investments and initiatives, integrating multiple perspectives to ensure a balanced and comprehensive recommendation

• Drive real-time visibility into targets, metrics, and achievement at various levels,  interpreting key performance drivers and actively engaging in discussions around investment decisions

• Own our strategic financial processes including quarterly business reviews, annual strategic planning and actively support board meeting level preparation 

• Proactively create value; identify strategic opportunities and risks and bring data-driven recommendations to senior leadership

Required Skills & Experience:

• Analytical thinker with high aptitude and enthusiasm for complex problem solving; utilizing financial modeling and analysis, including advanced Excel and Powerpoint

• Along with quantitative and analytical skills, demonstrated proficiency in building and handling complicated data sets

• Excellent interpersonal skills, able to build relationships, seek diverse perspectives and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders at various levels across the company and with external partners, both domestic and global

• Strong leadership presence; influential with a diverse group of stakeholders, creating cross-functional buy-in

• Highly capable of analyzing and interpreting data, translating into actionable steps, and communicating clearly across all levels of the organization

• Adept at synthesizing and presenting complex data in written materials, presentations, financial models and data analysis 

• Attention to detail, yet ability to maintain an “80/20” mindset

• Strong familiarity with corporate finance concepts, financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and KPI tracking and practical knowledge of valuation methodologies

• Comfort with ambiguity and unstructured projects

• Strategic and operational agility; able to support and operationalize Finance and enterprise-wide strategies 

• Ability to adapt to dynamic, quick-pace and often changing environment

• Bachelor’s Degree Required, Master’s Degree preferred in related field

• 10 + years relevant experience in consulting, private equity,  investment banking, or other fast-paced environment
