Overview

Indico is a venture-backed startup making the application of deep learning practical in the enterprise. Our focus is on helping to automate tedious back-office tasks, and improve the efficiency of labor-intensive document-based workflows. The fundamental branch of technology we use to achieve this is known as transfer learning, which allows us to train machine learning models with orders of magnitude less data than is required by traditional techniques, with a strong emphasis on NLP and text processing.


About the Position

Indico is looking to hire it's first accounting manager on its growing finance team. In this role you will work closely with our SVP of Finance and our People Ops team. Key responsibilities include day-to-day execution, process management and improvement of our Month-end + Year-end close, Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables as well as Payroll. This role requires strong prioritization and organization skills due to the varied nature of this work.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting or related field
  • Has exceptional judgment in prioritizing and making scheduling decisions
  • Solid understanding of cutoffs and accruals with the ability to work closely with other departments
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Experience with Quickbooks Online, Bill.com, Gusto, ADP, Ease, Carta, Hubspot, Google Suite/Workspace (Google Sheets, Google Drive, Google Docs), Asana and Avalara is a plus
  • Financial systems and business application experience including advanced Excel, PowerPoint NetSuite or equivalent General Ledger experience
  • Knowledge of US GAAP requirements and revenue recognition rules, including experience with ASC 606 is strongly preferred

Responsibilities - Month + Year End Close and Payroll

  • Complete monthly financial close process including bank reconciliations, preparing and posting adjusting entries and maintaining the general ledger
  • Manage the accounting and reporting function to include the preparation of the company’s financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • Lead key accounting processes to include AP, AR, Cash, Fixed Assets, and SAAS/Revenue
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures, as well as identify new policies and areas of improvement.
  • Reconcile various accounts payable and accounts receivable reports to trial balance accounts and operating statements, and complete the final review of operating statements
  • Reconcile monthly bank reconciliations and maintain schedules supporting balance sheet accounts, capital schedules, and bank reconciliations
  • Analyze general ledger account activity for assigned accounts
  • Support our first annual financial audit
  • Support tax preparations and filings with external tax consultants to include sales and use taxes
  • Maintain fixed assets, and provide month-end reconciliation reports.
  • Provide additional financial statement and general ledger analysis as needed
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and investor reporting as necessary
  • Process Form 1099’s at year-end and assist with other tax related items as necessary Ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required
  • 2x a month - Run payroll - Review and submit bi-monthly payroll for staff and contractors, including benefits and expense reimbursements
  • 1x a month - Run Variable Pay - Prepare commission reports and process commission payments on a Monthly basis

Responsibilities - Accounts Payable + Accounts Receivable

  • Process Vendor Invoices
  • Update and maintain vendor files and w-9
  • Responsible for all approvals and corporate credit card expenses and postings
  • Work with various departments to ensure accuracy of purchases and correct accounting and budgeting
  • Generate and issue customer invoices to include applicable taxes
  • work with operations to ensure proper cots are captured for billing
  • deposit checks
  • follow up with customers to ensure prompt payment

Location

Indico Data's Boston HQ is currently out of Venture Lane near Governments Center. We have team members spread across the United States but the majority of the team is still in Boston and a few folks come in occasionally to use the co-working space!
