The Accountant will primarily be responsible for assisting with the identification and management of company expenditures. You will report to the Accounting Manager.
- Obtain approvals prior to issuing payments
- Accurately code and enter expenses into Quickbooks
- Verify all receipts have been obtained, if not request required receipts for expense incurred via Divvy, the corporate credit card program
- Identify prepaids and manage expense schedule
- Respond to all vendor inquiries
- Research vendor statements, phone calls and discrepancies
- Maintain filing system and online backup or invoices, approvals and payments
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Monthly credit card reconciliation
- Support the month end close process
- Assist in providing audit support
- Assist in the 1099 process
- Complete ad-hoc/special projects as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in accounting related roles: start-up and/or insurance industry experience a plus
- Proficiency in Excel is required
- Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Must have exceptional attention to detail and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong oral and written skills and the ability to communicate cross-functionally
- Ability to interact with and build productive working relationships across all organizational levels and departments
- Self-driven, self-starter, goal-oriented individual who thrives working in a fast paced, ever changing environment, curious and wants to learn
- A willingness to roll-up your sleeves when work needs to get done
