Barkly is looking for an experience designer to help us shake up the cybersecurity industry with a disruptively strong and simple product, and a brand that cuts through the noise of a crowded competitive landscape.

The Director of Design will lead a small team of talented and passionate product and marketing designers, shape the design team’s culture, champion a cohesive brand and customer experience, and evangelize design thinking company-wide.

This is a manager role, as well as a doer role. The ideal candidate for this position should have strong leadership skills, as well as strong technical skills in the field of visual and UX/UI design.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the concept, design and execution of creative in support of product and marketing projects while hitting established goals, milestones and deadlines. Project include: product UI & UX, web design, sales tools, graphics, tradeshows, print materials, content, digital ads and more.
• Manage our design team, prioritize projects and provide feedback and mentorship for more junior designers.
• Establish a vision for user experience across the customer lifecycle and work with the team and stakeholders to iterate towards that vision.
• Maintain a high standard of design experiences, considering the execution of typography, color, animation, and UX practices.
• Define & enforce a consistent design style across all assets and products.
• Facilitate user research and internal brainstorming to drive to innovative ideas and impacts products and designs.
• Champion a design culture across the company.

What you bring to tthe table:

• 5+ years of professional design experience, with experience in both visual and UI/UX design.
• A deep understanding of and high degree of empathy for the customer experience.
• Strong focus on Interaction Design and Experience Design , with equally strong visual design skills to create polished products and assets users enjoy.
• A design portfolio that features a strong command of strategic problem solving, user journey mappings, intuitive user experiences, visual and interaction design work.

• Ability to design beautiful yet realistic designs for the developers to implement.
• Ability to work loosely and iteratively to explore options, and hone ideas. Willingness to design, test, validate and try again!
• Proven experience interpreting both quantitative data and qualitative feedback to drive design concepts and iterations.
• Understanding that design is a collaborative, facilitation role.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary teams including leadership, engineering, product, and marketing.
• Expert level skills with design software for creating mock-ups, wireframes, prototypes and production assets, such as Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite and Invision.
• You are a visual thinker, constantly building and creating in order to express ideas.
• You have a high attention to small details while having ability to think big picture about product strategy and vision.
• You are comfortable creating V1 designs in a quick turn-around time.
• You have passion for making complex concepts simple and using design to communicate value and drive adoption.
• You thrive in a fast-paced development environments with ambitious goals and tight deadlines.
