About the Visual Designer Position

You are a champion of aesthetics. You have personal heroes that make your non-designer friends say "...Who?". You involuntarily facepalm when you encounter Papyrus or Comic Sans out in the wild. Professionally, you aspire to grow into making some of the best design work in the biz. To think, create and ultimately make every interaction between a brand and its customers beautiful, frictionless and meaningful. To experiment. To fight. To iterate. To fail. But most importantly - to get back up. And succeed wildly.

At Verndale, you'll be part of our Experience Design practice. You'll be responsible for creating pixel-perfect executions for mid-market Fortune 500 brands under the guidance of our Art and Creative Directors. You'll work on a broad range of clients in a variety of industries including but not limited to hospitality, education, healthcare, financial, and manufacturing & distribution. You'll also have opportunities to create branded collateral and marketing materials like case studies, magazines and online videos.

The right candidate will:

  • Be capable of creating visually compelling, innovative digital designs whether presented with a blank canvas or the confines of existing guidelines.
  • Sweat all the details that'll make a good design into a great one.
  • Be comfortable working closely with experience architects to conceptualize and sketch out responsive solutions
  • Contribute thoughtful ideas to every stage of a project.
  • Always take feedback productively, not personally.
  • Have strong time management, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Be confident but humble and respectful.

Additionally you'll have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related design field
  • 2-3 years experience
  • Knowledge of foundational responsive web design principles
  • Strong typography skills
  • Proficiency in Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS
  • A link to your portfolio to submit with your resume
