UX Engineer

We are looking for a UX Engineer to join our growing team. Working as a key member of an agile squad, you will provide a consistent, intuitive user experience to all of Ellevation’s products that will simplify training, improve product mastery and user confidence, and help educators more effectively deliver instruction.
You seek out opportunities where you can provide maximum value and enable others without requiring significant management or direction. You have high standards and attention to detail, and are eager to incorporate customer feedback in your craft.
In this role, you will own and maintain internal component libraries, style guides and comprehensive design systems for various web applications. Working closely with You will work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and other Engineers to develop elegant, reusable components using HTML/CSS to define and evolve Ellevation’s UX vision.
About you:
- You are adept at working with other engineers to transform wireframes and lower-fidelity mockups into full-realized user experiences. You have a UX background and will be able to intuitively understand our users.
- You value clean and elegant but pragmatic and effective design in order to meet deadlines with high-quality software.
- You bring 2-4 years’ experience in a similar role in a startup, web-based SaaS environment. You could also be someone who is currently at a web design/marketing agency who is looking for more opportunity and “product” ownership and impact.
- You've applied responsive, cross-browser compatibility strategies and used related debugging tools.
- You can explain what a SASS mixin is to an engineer.
- You're a team-player that thrives in a dynamic environment where there can be degrees of ambiguity.
Technical Skills:
- Firm knowledge of HTML5 and CSS standards and usage, incorporating DOM structure principles;
- Experience working with compiled CSS frameworks, such as SASS or LESS, in IDEs such as Visual Studio;
- Familiarity with Javascript client-side frameworks such as Angular, ReactJS, Aurelia, etc.
- Understanding of HTTP concepts and proficiency working with REST-ful APIs
