Root Robotics is creating robots, apps, and curricula that will be this generation's way to fall in love with coding. We are the makers of Root, a wall driving, music playing, artwork drawing robot with a unique coding interface that goes from a graphical environment up to career-based languages.
Job Summary
We are seeking innovative educators passionate about coding education to combine their knowledge of learning theory and instructional design skills with their interest in coding education to develop learning content for Root. We’re looking for someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and connect with kids, educators and parents in their elements. And then, more importantly, reflect on what they learned to create meaningful, impactful, and beautiful content. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.
Primary Responsibilities
- Combine user-centered design principles with learning theory to develop educational Root content targeted at kids aged 4 to 18 years old.
- Design and curate content for the Root educator and student online communities.
- Use illustration tools to mock up the look, content, and presentation of content materials.
- Assist in user-testing and refine learning content and graphics based on findings.
- Assist in data collection and analysis from user-testing and Root pilot evaluations.
- Prepare educational content and training materials for industry conferences.
- Facilitate activities and events at industry conferences.
Qualifications and Skills
- You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology or a related field.
- You have spent at least 2 years working with children in a learning environment (formal or informal).
- You have familiarity with child development and learning theory.
- You have experience in using illustration tools such as Adobe Suite, InDesign and Illustrator.
- You have experience using storyboarding and wireframing software to plan out content strategies.
- You are comfortable with a iterative and Agile design methodologies.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- You are well organized and detail-oriented .
- Ideally you have familiarity with computer science education.
