About the Art Director Position

Maybe you’re an art director, maybe you’re a digital, interactive or UI designer. No matter your current path, it leads you to a single destination: a passion to bring world-class digital experiences to life. To create compelling, user-focused visual designs built around human insights. To possess and practice curiosity about the positive psychological impacts a design system’s look and feel can make on first impression. To make every interaction between a brand and its customers beautiful, frictionless and valuable. To experiment. To fight. To iterate. To fail.

But most importantly –– to get back up. And succeed wildly.

The Right Candidate will:

  • Understand the intricacies of creating design systems, whether borne from scratch or out of existing brand guidelines, that are not just visually beautiful but able to work on multiple devices and within modular CMS platforms.
  • Be a strong collaborator excited to contribute creative ideas in every stage of a project, you’re comfortable playing outside your lane of visual and brand expertise.
  • Take feedback productively, not personally. Your personal North Star is what's best for the project (not your ego).
  • Understand that business goals are a reality your amazing design needs to play nice with. But have the experience to understand when to push back in the interest of the audience.
  • Have strong time management, problem solving and communication skills and be comfortable interacting with and presenting your solutions to clients.
  • Be confident but humble and respectful. Nobody likes a jerk.
  • Have a portfolio that could make Stefan Sagmeister and Ethan Marcotte cry (but in a good way.)

Additionally, you'll have the following in your virtual Swiss Army Knife:

  • Knowledge of foundational graphic and web design principles.
  • Strong web typography skills and knowledge of development and licensing criteria (or desire to learn)
  • Fluent in Sketch, producing psychotically organized files.
  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite. You live for photoshop and illustrator but have a well-rounded background and know your way around InDesign and how to create materials for print.
  • A basic understanding of HTML/CSS.
  • 4-7 years experience designing responsively.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related design field preferred.

Bonus Points:

  • Comfortable working in design sprints.
  • Experience with Confluence and Jira for collaborating, time logging and bug tracking.
  • Knowledge of or previous experience working in app design, AR, VR and voice technology.
  • Experience with video production for broadcast and digital.
  • Understanding the principles of Atomic Design.
