As a Data Engineer Intern you will positively impact the business by transforming operational data into analytical data for the business to derive insights and solve complex problems. You will provide technical expertise to the Enterprise Data Team; assisting with writing schema changes, data cleansing and other database design work as well as building and maintaining ELT pipelines and data models for Analytics and Business Intelligence solutions.

 

A typical day might include:

  • A stand-up with your team to review product specifications, requirements and progress

  • Assist the data warehouse team with writing schema changes and other database design work, geared for scalability and performance.

  • Understand raw data sources and various options of data ingestion into Snowflake

  • Design and build robust data pipelines using python or commercially available tools

  • Ensure consistent data governance, data pipeline and data platform resilience and data observability

  • Champion a data-driven culture across the enterprise developing methods and controls to ensure consistent application and use of data

  • Interface directly with internal clients and project team members to understand the needs and objectives of the business

  • Create insightful reports and dashboards in Tableau

  • Perform ad hoc data analysis as necessary

This role may be a fit for you if you have:

  • Dynamic Sophomores working towards a BA/BS with a GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Must be available for a Summer internship from June 2024 until August 2024

  • Must be comfortable working virtually/remotely

  • Proven leadership ability through participation in organizations and clubs

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to promote teamwork and collaboration

 

Bonus points for:

  • Majoring in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics or related discipline

  • Experience with Cloud Data Warehouse platforms such as Snowflake, Big Query or Azure Synapse 

  • Experience with Qlik Sense, Tableau or other BI tools
