Your Opportunity!

Reporting to the COO/CFO, the Vice President (VP) of Digital, will be part of the Senior Leadership Team. This position oversees the digital media activities of our 20 professionals involved in the development and distribution of content via digital platforms. You will own the content, product and design of NESN.com, NESNgo (NESN’s TV Everywhere service) and the mobile platforms. This role will play a critical role in digital content strategy, editorial direction, product technology, user experience and integration with the network’s linear service. You will ensure the continued growth and profitability of the digital business through collaborative partnering with ad sales, linear production, programming and marketing. This VP is responsible for leading, overseeing and managing NESN’s team of editorial and tech professionals.

  • You at least 10 years of digital or multi-platform experience, with a Bachelor's degree (masters is a plus)
  • Extensive experience of progressive digital tech and content responsibilities, within media industry, preferably sports or entertainment
  • You have created and/or led a team of digital platform content creators, preferably with a media company and achieved outstanding growth results
  • Strong creative and strategic skills with the proven ability to function tactically with great detail within the digital process
  • An outstanding communicator who can lead others in the evaluation and pursuit of new opportunities that drive company growth
  • A genuinely collaborative executive with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills who isn’t afraid to “roll up your sleeves” and “get in the trenches”
  • Proven track record of leading, managing, hiring, developing, mentoring, and motivating strong teams through growth, adversity, and change
  • Experience with vendor management and/or RFP process preferred

 

In this role you will:

  • Own the development of the product roadmap and determine the prioritization of digital initiatives and resources based on business needs
  • Partner with executives across the company in ad sales, linear production, editorial, social and communications to create a truly differentiated consumer product
  • Advise top management on developments in digital technology and their potential impacts on the company
  • Translate market insights into feature recommendations captured in an ambitious yet achievable product roadmap
  • Oversee all digital product prioritization, launches, and go-to-market plans to deliver an exceptional consumer experience
  • Monitor and thoroughly understand competitive trends, and embrace new technologies to identify and create new revenue opportunities
  • Develop and manage quarterly and annual operating expense budgets
  • Identify, develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive informed decision making and digital strategies
  • Utilize data analytics and audience research to maximize audience, traffic, engagement and consumption trends
  • Cultivate an entrepreneurial, results-oriented organization that attracts and challenges employees, and allows it to flourish in an open, direct and team-oriented atmosphere
  • Create a positive, success-oriented environment, and serve as a leader that promotes creativity, innovation, improvement and the desire to be the best
  • Manage the performance and support the career development of a team of professionals to include annual appraisals and goals, employee relations, and skill and professional development. Mentor staff to develop well-rounded skill sets that support the current and future needs of the department and organization.
  • Foster a high performance environment supporting NESN’s operating values of integrity, respect for the individual, embracing diversity, excellence in programming, and producing superior results for ownership
  • Develop operating plans to achieve established goals, and manage day-to-day operations to reach such goals
  • As part of the executive team, lead and make key contributions to organizational-wide initiatives
  • Work nights, weekends or holidays, as needed
