This copywriter would work within our Digital Agronomy productsan innovative area of the business that helps farmers better understand their crop and soil health. This includes Indigo’s new Carbon initiative, which gives farmers financial incentives to farm in more environmentally friendly ways; Indigo Fields, which uses geoinnovation tech to show farmers a living map of their fields; and other exciting products coming down the pipeline.

About the Role

You would own the copy, voice, tone, and standardization guidelines for all Indigo Digital Agronomy tools. As the team’s dedicated UX Copywriter, you would work directly with your design partners to create seamless user experiences that feature compelling, value-driven copy, and you’d team up with Product Management as a UX advocate to marry business requirements with user needs. 

As a member of Indigo’s small but growing UX Copy team, you would also collaborate and meet regularly with your fellow copywriters to define copy best practices and workshop your writing. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about language, eager to iterate, and ready to collaborate both within and outside of the UX Copy team.

Responsibilities:

Write, edit, and iterate on copy for Digital Agronomy products

  • Create copy that runs the gamut from microinteractions to landing pages to email notifications, and always look for room for improvement in our product language
  • Define information architecture to make sure content is organized and intuitive to the user
  • Be a copy advocate in meetings with cross-functional partners

Create voice, tone, and standardization guidelines

  • Conduct copy audits to assess the current experience, and give copy recommendations based on your findings
  • Create and adhere to a style guide that includes a tone map and guidelines for grammar and syntax

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create strong user experiences

  • Ideate and execute designs with UX Designers
  • Understand product vision and business goals from Product Management
  • Align on technical feasibility with Engineering

Be a UX thought partner to your designers

  • Be involved in the entire life cycle of a projectfrom whiteboarding initial concepts with designers to polishing up final copy
  • Give usability feedback on designs, and provide copy expertise for your designers

Understand our users (and advocate for them!)

  • Hop on phone calls with farmers, conduct surveys, and review tracking data to understand user behavior
  • Use this user data to inform and justify copy decisions

Competencies:

  • “Less is more” writing approach; looks for efficiencies in language
  • Strong eye for detail
  • Able to write for multiple device types (primarily desktop and mobile)
  • Advocates strongly for the user; in-depth understanding of usability
  • Collaborative worker who can build consensus among stakeholders and teams
  • Comfortable educating teammates on Indigo voice and copy best practices
  • Able to multitask; thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong sense of ownership and pride in work
  • Extremely organized

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years copywriting experience (for web/UX)
    •  Experience working in a UX/Product environment required
    •  Experience interacting directly with users required
  • Proven experience thinking holistically about voice consistency across products
  • Proven success identifying language needs and establishing a voice guideline

Location

On the edge of Charlestown, we are within walking distance to restaurants and bars. The Sullivan Square T and bus stop is also right next door! We are currently working remote/hybrid with the exception of our fantastic Biotrinsic team who work from the office and lab space here.
