At Wistia, we believe in the power of video. Our software and our content helps small- and medium-sized businesses leverage creativity, brand, and human connection in their marketing efforts with video.

The content and creative team at Wistia is looking for a Senior Copy Editor to take a leading role in editing our blog and website content! At Wistia, our written content is core to who we are as a brand, and it’s essential in how we communicate with our customers and our broader audience. We need an editor who is laser-focused on (and can contribute to) the evolution of our brand voice and can ensure we’re speaking to our audience with consistency and clarity to achieve the deepest impact.
In this role, you'll be the go-to resource for editing and shaping blog articles from a variety of contributors before they’re shared with the world. You'll be responsible for making sure our written content—whether it’s about a product update, building a more human business, or video-production advice—is engaging, accurate, free of typos and grammatical errors, and aligns with Wistia’s brand voice and editorial style. You’ll also work closely with the Content Marketing Manager to edit content that is optimized to reach and impact our target audience.
Key Responsibilities

  • Copy edit Wistia content. The senior copy editor will be the last line of defense before our content reaches our audience. You will offer feedback and provide a final-pass edit for articles that hit our blog, copy on the Website, emails, and language we use in our product to ensure accurate, error-free writing that is optimized to reach our audience.
  • Offer editorial guidance across the board. In this role, you’ll be responsible for making sure our copy is error-free, but you’ll also be responsible for making sure our content is achieving our business goals, that it’s engaging and providing the most value to our customers.
  • Author compelling blog articles. As a senior editor, you’ll contribute some of our highest-profile content to the Wistia blog. This writing will help set a standard for quality of content and use of the Wistia brand voice and tone.
  • Become the in-house expert on Wistia’s brand voice and writing style. In this role, you will be responsible for fiercely guarding our brand voice and making sure that our blog communicates with consistency and clarity. You will also partner with our Creative Director, our Director of Audience Development, and Director of Brand Marketing to determine how our brand voice will evolve as we grow.
  • Work cross-functionally to execute our content strategy. You'll work closely with our Content Marketing Manager and stakeholders from our Sales and Customer Success teams to make sure we’re creating the right content for every brand touchpoint and delivering on schedule.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in copy-editing and blog writing, preferably for a B2B SaaS or video brand
  • Passion for writing compelling content that connects with people and their experiences as marketers and video producers
  • A deep understanding of brand voice and tone with a demonstrated ability to edit content with specific audiences in mind
  • A discerning eye for mistakes in grammar, spelling, and punctuation
  • Experience working with SEO consultants and optimizing content for search
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a broader creative team to meet deadlines and achieve broad strategic initiatives
