TripAdvisor provides a unique, global work environment that captures the speed, innovation and excitement of a startup, at a thriving, growing and well-established industry brand. At TripAdvisor, you will be part of a dynamic, fun, and energetic team where you can immediately make meaningful contributions.

What’s the job?

Ready to play an important role at TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel site? As a key member of our in-house Core Experience (CoreX) creative team, you’ll work closely with writers, designers and a broad range of internal stakeholders as you develop branded marketing materials targeting consumer and B2B (business-to-business) audiences worldwide.

You’ll be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment that fuses the speed, innovation and excitement of a start-up with the stability and resources of a global industry leader. As a polished, action-oriented writer, you’ll demonstrate your ability to learn and adapt quickly as you develop solutions to a huge spectrum of communication challenges. You should have a demonstrated fluency with the fundamentals of (and key trends in) digital and offline marketing and advertising writing; a deep knowledge of the interactive digital space; and a proven comfort level in creating short-form marketing communications for multiple modalities. The ability to quickly and effectively integrate feedback to drive stronger results will be essential to your success.

In short: Awesome brand. Global audience. Collaborative environment. Cool team. Free lunches. Dog-friendly. Write & influence for a living.

What you’ll do

• Copywriting for both digital and offline marketing initiatives, including social media, email campaigns, banner advertisements, print and web-branded materials, direct mail, print ads, etc.

• Supporting Brand, CRM, Product, Partnerships and Social Media initiatives with persuasive copy that motivates recipients to take action.

• Providing customized messaging strategies and copy based on defined customer segments, shared knowledge of user behavior, and best practices standards.

• Driving key conversion events through the development and/or modification of online and offline marketing and promotional materials.

• Collaborating with creative team members and project owners to determine concepts and copy direction of branding and marketing initiatives.

• Working with creative team leadership to ensure copy consistently reflects TripAdvisor brand standards for voice, tone and strategic messaging approach across all touchpoints, modifying for consumer or B2B audiences as appropriate.

• Learning all about our business – what we do as a website, who our audiences are, what we choose to say to them (and why), who our competitors are and how they position relative to us in the industry – and using those insights to help us shape the way we communicate via copy and design strategy.

 What we’re looking for

• Degree in English, Communications, Advertising or a related field.

• Practical working experience as a copywriter, ideally in an agency or in-house agency setting, whether via FT employment or significant internships. 1-2 years’ experience is ideal.

• Portfolio is required — include samples demonstrating the above along with your resume.

• Familiarity with business writing for social media is essential — not just experience as a user with Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, but with the ways that businesses use these mediums to communicate and market effectively to key audiences.

• Must have a strong understanding of the principles of marketing and advertising copywriting, vs. long-form content or journalistic writing.

• Consumer brand experience with a strong online component is ideal.

• Familiarity with B2B marketing is ideal.

• Experience writing effectively for translations – in other words, developing messaging that emphasizes clarity and strong, actionable CTAs rather than reliance on idioms or wordplay which might be lost when translating your work to Thai or Greek – would instantly set you apart as a candidate.

• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines. Our unofficial motto: “Speed Wins.”

• Proven aptitude for quick creative thinking without sacrificing attention to detail.

• Must be a team player and enjoy collaboration. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential.

• Ability to take direction, propose new concepts and follow established guidelines essential.

• Must be able to take constructive feedback, quickly translate edits and updates into modified and/or new content, and apply lessons learned to future projects.

• Highly organized, accurate, and detail oriented.

• Must play well with others.

• Curiosity, just enough confidence, and a fully functional sense of humor are required.
