Supply Chain Specialist

Desktop Metal is revolutionizing 3D printing of metal parts. Our printer’s robust build processes create complex parts beautifully at a price attainable by any design and manufacturing team and can be used within an office environment. We are looking to bring on board bright, motivated team members across wide spectrum of disciplines. Desktop Metal is seeking a talented and self-motivated Supply Chain Specialist to join our Operations team. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting pilot operations in early stages through transfer to manufacturing.

The Supply Chain Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Procuring materials for both development and manufacturing; including identifying and ordering the proper parts quantities, negotiating pricing and shipment terms and overseeing the timely delivery of materials needed to fulfill internal and external customer orders
  • Implementing cost reduction measures through contract negotiation, identifying multiple sources and value engineering
  • Identifying and evaluating new vendors based on organizational needs
  • Supporting Supply Chain Manager with strategic projects to improve supply chain processes and support company growth
  • Working collaboratively with Engineering and Operations teams to support manufacturing ramp up throughout 2018
  • Data compilation and reporting to provide status updates on supply chain effectiveness and opportunities for improvement

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of applicable Supply Chain experience
  • Experience working in both development and manufacturing environments
  • Demonstrated capability to contribute at a high level both individually and in teams
  • Strong track record of building and maintaining solid relationships with internal and external customers and vendors
  • Ability to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective ways
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management
