We are seeking a Software Tools Engineer who will be responsible for developing and maintaining software tools that interact with the Copenhagen Wheel’s embedded system and our cloud based API. These tools will be for engineering development, manufacturing, and field service. Also will include development of tools for R&D test activities that include custom developed testers encompassing motors, sensors, etc. that interact with our product.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing, engineering and support test tools for the Copenhagen Wheel and subsystems.
  • Work with engineering and manufacturing to define and create manufacturing tests for electrical hardware and software.
  • Develop PC based test tools and frameworks for testing embedded software and hardware.
  • Create tools to get meaningful data from the large amount of tests we run.
  • Foster our tools ecosystem; be responsible for design, validation, documentation and release of tools infrastructure.
  • Work closely in a small team where personal interactions are critical to timely decisions and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in ideation for future products and features.
  • Create opportunities for product improvement by identifying flaws and developing solutions. 

What we’re looking for:

  • BS in CS or EE, MS preferred with at least 3 years of experience developing software with fluency in Python
  • Additional programming skills in C, C++
  • Competency in some or all of the following communication protocols: CAN, I2C, SPI, UART, Bluetooth
  • Experience with a variety of integrated development environments
  • Background developing HIL and SIL testers
  • Experience selecting and interfacing with DAQs, sensors, power supplies, etc.
  • Experience with RESTful web services, JSON and database systems is a plus
  • Experience with revision control systems, issue tracking, and software documentation (bash, git, jira, confluence, doxygen)
