Our Opportunity:

Chewy is hiring a Software Engineer I, Front End to join our Fulfillment Support Applications (FSA) team. We set the bar high for delivering production-ready code by adopting CI/CD and DevOps engineering best practices. In this role, you will be working closely with UX designers, backend engineers, and product managers to deliver state of the art user experience. The expectations of the prospective candidate will be the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of software systems and related integrations. Your work will primarily focus on building and enhancing a suite of applications to drive efficiency and optimization within fulfillment operations. You will partner with both technical and business teams on multiple initiatives and collaborate to deliver new features and enhancements.

What You'll Do:

  • Use algorithms, data structures, and design patterns to produce efficient and performant code
  • Develop highly interactive user interfaces using React, React Native, and Next.js
  • Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality, responsive, and maintainable code
  • Develop, extend, and debug code within the scope of their team’s existing tools and services
  • Develop a flexible, well-structured front-end architecture, alongside the APIs to support it
  • Execute on design and debug tasks
  • Troubleshoot root causes of and solutions for bugs and production issues
  • Contribute to team’s standard methodologies for logging, testing, instrumentation, metrics, monitors, alerts, practices, and processes
  • Participate in on-call rotations, solving production issues

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or similar; or equivalent experience
  • 1+ years of professional experience as a Front End or Full Stack Software Engineer
  • Hands-on experience in designing, building, and deploying scalable and highly available systems
  • Experience in ReactJS, NextJS,  or similar frameworks
  • Basic proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript
  • Experience with REST APIs and integrating frontend applications with backend services
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full software development life cycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Proficiency in Computer Science fundamentals – object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm - design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

Bonus:

  • Exposure in e-commerce
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience developing CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins or similar tool
  • Experience with Cypress, Playwright or similar automated testing tools
  • Experience with Scrum, XP, or other agile methodologies
