The Role

At Netflix, we aspire to entertain the world and are constantly innovating on how entertainment is imagined, created, and delivered to a global audience. We currently stream content in more than 30 languages in 190 countries, topping over 300 million paid members.

At the end of 2022, we launched a new ad-supported tier to offer our members more choice in how they consume their content. Our ad-supported plan allows us to attract new members at a lower price point, while also creating a compelling path for advertisers to reach audiences that are deeply immersed and invested in Netflix content.

To help us deliver this compelling experience, we’re looking for a highly ambitious, visionary, and experienced Senior Product Designer who will help shape Netflix’s ads consumer experiences for our users. This includes crafting innovative ad formats tailored to our wide variety of content and experiences, innovating within our existing ad canvases, and creating the future of advertising on Netflix.

You will also partner closely with other product designers working across our various member experience teams to deliver a delightful, engaging, and highly relevant Ads experience for our Netflix members.

This will be a remote-friendly role, with the freedom to set a flexible work-from-home schedule.  This role would be best for candidates located in California or in the Pacific time zone, as semi-regular travel will be required to collaborate with stakeholders and partners in Los Angeles, Los Gatos, and New York.  That said, we can always make exceptions in location for the right candidate.

Our team designs the ads consumer experiences for Netflix. These experiences span our entire product and empower our advertisers and sponsors to reach our members while maintaining the highest bar for the overall member experience.  We also design the foundational features that make the Ads plan different from our other plans, helping our users maintain control and transparency of their advertising experience.

Our team’s primary superpower is the ability to design creatively and collaboratively in highly complex environments balancing the needs of our members and our advertisers through rigorous testing, empathy, and expertise. And leveraging a diverse set of design and creative skills.

You’ll be one of the lead designers who crafts these experiences and shapes the future of advertising across our product.  More specifically, you’ll be a critical part of one of the most talented and trailblazing advertising design teams in the world.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the design and execution of Netflix's ads consumer experiences across a variety of surfaces. 

  • Identify, research, and drive the future of our ads experiences strategy for our members.

  • Design and enable an industry leading advertising privacy and regulatory experience for Netflix members.

  • Establish principles to ensure a best-in-class advertising experience for our members across multiple content types.

  • Craft design briefs that provide business, design, and engineering clarity for critical initiatives.

  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, content designers, data scientists, and business teams to develop and innovate on the future of ads using a deep and varied design toolkit.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years as a Product Designer (or equivalent experience) in the consumer product space, leading high-impact initiatives from concept to execution.

  • Rich portfolio that showcases proven experience at the intersection of advertising, TV, and/or streaming. specifically case studies that demonstrate expertise and leadership at this intersection.

  • Experience working on privacy and regulatory experiences.

  • A passionate energy for great design and amplifying our team culture.

  • Demonstrated expertise with consumer product experiences that incorporate advertising.

  • Strong understanding of advertising best practices and industry trends for ads on TV and web.

  • Work that highlights the balance between empathy for users and understanding advertiser needs.

  • Understands the nuances of advertising across all media types, and a knowledge of advertising best practices on digital products.

  • Experience constructing end product quality prototypes of consumer experiences that leverage video and motion.

  • Excellent communication skills that excite stakeholders and articulate a vision.

  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail (e.g writing documentation to support your design decisions).

  • Experience in video production and editing tools. 

  • Experience in web advertising and/or marketing design.

  • Experience in live TV broadcasting and/or TV advertising.

  • Experience working directly with advertisers to deliver their vision.

Even Better:

  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, video motion graphics, & video editing tools (like After Effects, Final cut)

  • Experience designing and delivering digital ad formats.

  • Experience in the creation and fulfillment of digital and/or video advertising campaigns.

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $120,000 - $515,000.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
