Primary Purpose
The Engineering Manager will build and lead a team of software engineers and system analysts to deliver highly performant and scalable IT products and platforms to enable implementation and support of enterprise IT solutions, while driving best practices. This role will have responsibilities for several portfolios within POS and Payments technology solutions. Solutions include ACI Retail Commerce Server, NCR Connected Payments (OpenEPS, ServerEPS, Common Client, WebEPS), Verifone and Ingenico PinPads, and PinPad estate management. As a people leader, the Solutions Engineering Manager will be accountable for the team's training, development and performance management. This individual will be accountable for driving a cohesive application strategy in collaboration with business partners. They will collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and efficiencies while partnering with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the build and implementation of new applications and integration with SaaS, COTS systems.
Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis until the end of their appointment.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages and leads multiple product portfolios of POS and Payments solutions supporting business functions including Retail Operations, Payments, and Finance.
  • As a portfolio manager, establish and maintain strong working relationships with vendor partners.
  • As a software development manager, take technology ownership of systems and platforms with high complexity.
  • As a people manager, hire and develop talent to build, enhance and support systems with high complexity. Lead a team of software engineers, leads and analysts to create an engaged, productive work environment.
  • Responsible for the design, configuration, integration and implementation of IT solutions to deliver on business and IT objectives.
  • Lead the team to deliver solutions that are customer focused, easy to consume and create sustained business value within budget.
  • Leverage experience to ensure team builds efficient and scalable applications utilizing best in class tools and services.
  • Responsible for delivering end-to-end solutions based on limited scope that are highly available, scalable, stable, secure, and cost effective.
  • Provide strong technical expertise to drive towards the right and practical solutions that meet the business needs within the required timelines.
  • Promotes an effective team environment through the effective use of mentoring, coaching and development of technical skills. Plans and assigns work within the context of a project /function. Leads by example, demonstrating leadership attributes, depth/ breath of knowledge and experience allows for a wide range of project/functional guidance.
  • May support the evaluation of emerging IT engineering technologies including testing and integration of new solutions.
  • Facilitate communications and resolution activities with IT and business leaders when there is a support issue that materially impacts the business. (i.e. P1, P2, bridge calls, etc.)
  • Manage application access reviews, extensions and renewals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Technical field and Master's Degree in Technology and/or Business-related field; equivalent trainings/certifications/experience equivalency will be considered.
  • 7 or more years of equivalent experience in relevant job or field of technology.
  • 3 or more years of equivalent experience in an advanced role or technical capacity, leading teams directly or indirectly.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with vendors and internal stakeholders effectively coupled with ability to influence others toward a common goal.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once and work under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work of the team to meet time-based deliverables
  • Knowledge of payment credit/debit ecosystem is required.
  • Experience in retail is required.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Post graduate degree advanced training and or certifications in relevant field/s of study preferred.
  • Previous experience with direct responsibility for leading a team of technical team members in relevant technologies, capabilities or skills.
  • 3 or more years' experience in Agile teams and Product/Platform based operating model.
  • Experience in development and delivery phases of complex technology projects and programs (e.g., discovery, estimation, initiation, planning, design, execution, release).
  • Business Development experience with product solutioning and client engagement in a highly technical environment.
  • Experience executing projects related to modernization and re-platforming of large-scale solutions.
  • Experience in grocery preferred.
  • Experience in fuel is preferred.
  • Experience with NCR Storeline or Emerald POS system's is preferred.
  • Experience with Connected Payments is preferred.
  • Experience with Toshiba ACE POS is preferred.
  • Experience with ACI RCS is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Pin Pad configuration and management is preferred.
  • Experience with Estate Management tools is preferred.
