Senior Manager, Data Platform & Governance
Position Summary
The Senior Manager of Data Platform & Governance is accountable for the resilience, security, and compliance of SharkNinja's modern data platform. Reporting to the VP of Data, AI & Analytics, this role drives platform governance initiatives and influences the architectural evolution of a Snowflake-centric stack (Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran, Dagster, Power BI). This individual collaborates across engineering and analytics teams to ensure data is trusted, well-controlled, and available at scale.

Platform Resiliency
• Define and implement HA/DR practices for Snowflake, dbt, orchestration, and BI tools.• Develop and monitor platform SLOs/SLAs; coordinate load testing, failover, and resilience drills.
Data Protection & Security• Manage role-based access control, data classification, masking, and tokenization.• Collaborate with Security & IT on key management, network policies, and zero trust implementation.
Regulatory & SOX Compliance• Contribute to SOX, GDPR, CCPA, and PCI DSS compliance via robust control design and documentation.• Support audit activities including walkthroughs, evidence management, and issue remediation.
Data Governance & Quality
• Lead metadata, lineage, and cataloging efforts with a focus on governed self-service.• Drive data quality using dbt tests and observability to identify and prevent data debt.
Technology Leadership• Guide adoption of Snowflake and dbt features for performance and cost optimization (e.g., Iceberg, Snowpark, dynamic tables).• Assess and pilot emerging tools in observability, lineage, and GenAI governance.
Team & Partnership• Lead a small focused team while partnering closely with Data and Analytics Engineering teams.• Act as a bridge between data platform capabilities and business stakeholder needs.
Strategic Planning & Evangelism• Contribute to platform roadmaps, service health dashboards, and compliance KPIs.• Promote a culture of "secure by design" and "compliance as code."

Required Qualifications
- 7+ years in data platform architecture, governance, or engineering, with 1-2 years in a people or project leadership role.
- Deep experience with Snowflake and dbt including roles, RBAC, resource monitors, CI/CD, and testing.
- Hands-on experience with ELT pipelines (Fivetran), orchestration tools (Dagster, Airflow), and BI/reporting platforms (Power BI).
- Strong understanding of SOX-aligned control design, audit readiness, and compliance tooling.
- Working knowledge of data security principles (encryption, masking, tokenization).
- Familiarity with metadata and lineage frameworks (OpenLineage, DataHub, Collibra).
- Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in consumer goods, retail, or regulated industries.
- Exposure to GenAI governance practices or Snowflake Cortex features.
- Certifications such as SnowPro Advanced Architect, dbt Analytics Engineering, CISA, or CISM.
