About the Client

Our client is a global non-profit organization using technology to preserve and share historical and genealogical data with millions of users worldwide. Their mission-driven engineering teams build systems that power large-scale data management, digital archives, and secure integrations across multiple platforms.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Data Engineer to lead the integration of a React/Java application with Monday.com, ensuring smooth, reliable, and secure data synchronization between systems. The ideal candidate combines a strong foundation in database administration and ETL processes with hands-on experience or deep familiarity with Monday.com’s GraphQL API and automation structure.

This is a project-based, hands-on engineering role where you’ll architect scalable data flows, design synchronization strategies, and work closely with developers to deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement data integration solutions between a React/Java application and the Monday.com platform.

  • Architect bidirectional data synchronization to ensure consistency across systems.

  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines that support seamless data flow and automation.

  • Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity throughout all connected systems.

  • Collaborate with development teams to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions.

  • Evaluate and recommend suitable ETL tools or technologies based on project needs.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration or data flow issues.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including data flow diagrams and integration architecture.

What You Need to Succeed
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Database Engineer, or DBA with a strong ETL background.

  • Deep understanding of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).

  • Experience with data integration and API-based connections.

  • Solid knowledge of GraphQL APIs and experience integrating SaaS work management platforms (e.g., Asana, Jira, Airtable, Smartsheet, or similar). Monday.com experience strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with Java and JavaScript/React environments for integration purposes.

  • Experience with ETL tools such as Airbyte, Fivetran, Talend, or AWS Glue.

  • Experience working in agile environments or supporting MVP development cycles.

What We Offer

At South Geeks, we don’t just match skills to roles: we match people to purpose. We build lasting partnerships with our engineers, offering ongoing support, mentorship, and growth opportunities so you can thrive in every stage of your career.

  • Long-term projects with global clients.

  • 100% remote work.
