edX seeks a Senior Strategic Partnerships Director to help drive our edX growth efforts.

In this capacity, you will play an integral role in developing and executing edX’s growth strategy and strategic partnership efforts. You will help shape the future of education in a fast-moving, start up environment where results count. Viable candidates must be goal driven, with experience negotiating agreements. If you have a proven track record developing, selling, and closing accounts and partnerships while effectively managing a robust pipeline through clear processes and leading practices, we'd like to meet you!

We are looking for high energy, tenacity, and the self motivation to meet goals. The position comprises three primary areas of responsibility:

  1. You will expertly represent edX’s value proposition and solutions to US and international audiences, successfully uncovering key partnership opportunities.
  2. You will be responsible for developing strategic partnerships from inception to closure, including contract negotiation and relationship maintenance.
  3. You will evangelize and support the key organizational initiatives internally and externally; this includes but is not limited to the edX membership program and edX Online Campus offering.

This role reports directly to the SVP of Strategic Partnerships.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Contact new and provided edX customers/partners to ascertain prospects' potential alignment and opportunity
    Maintain a pipeline (Salesforce experience a plus).
  • Serve as the point of contact between potential and existing partners and executive sponsors.
    Oversee multiple engagements. Liaise with academic faculty and executives within non-profits, for-profits and the public sector.
  • Negotiate and close large engagements; contract skills and deal mechanics required.
    Manage multiple project schedules from planning through project closeout.
    Keep stakeholders well-informed of status through regular team meetings and presentation of reports.
    Participate as a member of professional team in early project planning and programming.
  • Manage the process to ensure best value and timely delivery of objectives. Participate in the meetings to review progress and quality.
  • Work collegially with peers to ensure consistent project management practices, protocols. Create and sustain an environment that fosters teamwork, excellence, respect, accountability and diversity.
  • Develop and monitor project projections. Provide updates, review proposed change orders and discuss project issues with Executive Sponsor as needed. Review reports with project managers.
  • Ensure compliance with contract terms and provide assistance when requested to Program, Legal, Marketing, Engineering to clarify questions or terms with Customer/Partner.
  • Work as a program champion with partner organizations to ensure focus on high quality deliverables.
  • Own responsibility for developing and achieving clearly defined objectives and outcomes, including revenue goals.


Requirements

  • 8+ years of demonstrated successful track record in sales, business development, strategic partnerships and/or consulting experience in a top-tier organization
  • Strong interest and knowledge of the global education space, particularly in Higher Ed
  • Deep experience in partnership development, client engagement planning, analysis and engagement, ideally in an international context
  • Capacity to serve as a compelling thought partner externally and internally. Ideal candidates have exposure to the higher education space.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to discuss contemporary issues in education and learning with high-level executives and educators
  • Dedication to meeting goals and delivery dates, and an ability to travel domestically and internationally if government and organizational travel restrictions are lifted (no travel requirement until at least October 2020)
  • Superior interpersonal, presentation, and verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple competing priorities and projects with attention to detail
  • Exceptional ability to effectively interact with multiple external and internal stakeholders
  • An ability to thrive with a variety of disciplines and stay effective in a high-volume, high workload, fast-paced start-up environment
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
  • Multi-lingual candidates preferred but not required
