If you’re a passionate about sales and are looking for a role that will have a large impact, athena’s sales organization is looking for you! athena’s sales organization is looking for motivated Sales Development Representatives across all sales segments: Medical Practice Sales, Independent Medical Group Sales, Community Hospital Sales, Population Health Sales, and National Health Systems
Position Summary:

This individual will partner with Sales Executives to help sell athenahealth’s cloud based solutions. S/he will partner with a specific team of Sales Executives within an assigned territory and will be responsible for sourcing new opportunities and developing outreach strategies to bring prospects into market via various outlets.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

70% Outreach Responsibilities


  • Articulate athena’s products and value to potential prospects via various outlets, including phone, online and in-person
  • Develop territory strategy to penetrate market
  • Leverage existing marketing programs, such as events and webinars, to engage potential prospects
  • Develop and implement new and creative outreach strategies
  • Ensure quality of opportunities and leads so they become forecasted in pipeline
  • Share market feedback with Sales Executives
  • 30% Sales Operations

    • Produce accurate forecasts to help Sales Executives achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual quota
    • Consistently track all outreach in Salesforce
    • Leverage internal resources to generate new leads
    • Attend industry events and dinner seminars


    Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree required
    • 1+ years of corporate work experience
    • 1+ years of sales experience required
    • Working knowledge of CRM, preferably salesforce
    • Mastery of all Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

    Behaviors & Abilities Required:

    • Excellent communication skills- both written and verbal
    • Strong presentation (both on the phone and in person)
    • A team player and positive attitude
    • Ability to understand a full-cycle sales process
    • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
    • Strong business acumen
