Sales Applications Engineer

The Sales Engineering role at Sheaumann Laser acts as the technical interface with the customer to provide guidance in product applications, assessing new business and driving product sales, coordinating programmatic contract elements. Key internal interfaces include engineering, operations, and sales team members. In addition, the Sales Engineer will act as the primary account manager for Sheaumann's expanding DOD / Government programs business.

Responsibilities

  • Engage commercial customers in assigned territories to identify and understand their requirements and propose appropriate product solutions for our commercial products. Generate new business.
  • Act as the account manager for DOD / Government contracts business.
  • Investigate and be familiar with competing products while understanding market requirements, pricing, and technology trends.
  • Work with product engineering to assess technical feasibility of new product design requests, customizations, or fit of existing designs to close new sales opportunity from lead inquires or outward bound prospecting.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing Directors to generate compelling technical communications (white papers / application notes) for outward bound product marketing.
  • Work with inside sales / sales operations to issue quotes, process sales orders, and manage return authorizations.
  • Travel to customer sites and trade shows to represent Sheaumann in technical presentations and discussions.

Qualifications

  • BS in a relevant Engineering, Physics or Materials Science plus two years professional experience in an electronic products business.
  • Good organizational skills, strong attention to detail, excellent communicator with great interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, responsive and persistent team player that seeks to make a contribution
  • Proficient at working independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Demonstrable experience in a sales or applications engineering or business development, field engineering or product owner role.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Some coursework or experience in LASERS or photonics or other semiconductor component devices.
  • One to three years as a sales engineer, or equivalent role, in optics, LASERS, photonics or semiconductor devices.
  • Local candidates.
