This role involves supporting the sales activities of a team of Large Account Sales Engineers across the United States and Canada. Primary responsibilities include providing technical sales functions to Mimecast sales staff, reseller partners and customers.

As the Manager of the team you will be responsible for resourcing the sales activities for all accounts with over 3000 employees. In addition, as the direct line manager of the regional Sales Engineers you will be responsible for training, career development and other management activities to support your team.

Public speaking and industry thought leadership is equally a vital component of this role. Supported by available global assets and experience, a Sales Engineering Manager is expected to poignantly present at any relevant internal or external events.

Mimecast is helping many customers migrate to new email platforms such as Office 365 and this role will be instrumental in providing guidance to customers on how to best use the Mimecast services to achieve a lower risk migration while maintaining availability and security of the email service for customers. Other responsibilities will include occasional support for major customers (in conjunction with our support team) and reseller partners, project management activities and involvement in key customer engagements and training of our partner’s staff.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and professional individual with commercial acumen and professional presentation skills. A natural curiosity for understanding existing environments and willingness to learn about evolving technology solutions is a must. Experience managing team members is essential.

  • Sales Engineering Management

This position will work closely with Sales and Channel leadership to understand go-to-market plans and goals of each region and implement corresponding SE team objectives, enablement and organizational plans. The SE Manager will need to collaborate and communicate regularly with cross-functional leadership to ensure a coordinated approach to the market. Additionally, you will be expected to drive methodologies and best practices for assessing and architecting customer solutions.

  • Team mentoring and leadership

Expertise in all areas will be instrumental in growing the skills within the other SEs in the team. Providing them with guidance through regular review will help to achieve this in conjunction with your personal management style. The SE Manager synchronizes regularly with regional counterparts to align the strategy and approach for the SE function.

  • Public speaking and presentation

You will be spending a large portion of your time preparing for and presenting to a variety of audiences on several topics relating to the product offerings from Mimecast. From company specific solution overviews to large audience events and demonstrations, your professionalism will be a cornerstone in projecting confidence and content expertise to guide decision makers to effective problem solving strategies.

  • Providing Technical Pre-Sales Support.

Providing technical advice and support to major and strategic sales opportunities and engaging with technical contacts in customer and reseller partner organizations, to ensure the Mimecast service is positioned correctly, understood and any technical objections are overcome. This will include product demonstrations, presentations to senior customer contacts, writing formal RFP response documents and the preparation of high level implementation plans. The role will involve closely working with sales colleagues and input into the qualification and sales strategies in partnership with sales.

  • Training and developing reseller partners.

This position will also involve ensuring that Mimecast reseller partners are capable of selling and supporting Mimecast services. This will include training partners and developing close working relationships with technical staff in the reseller partner organization.

 

 

Qualifications

-10+ years of experience in sales engineering or systems engineering with at least 5 years managing and directing a sales engineering team.

-In depth understanding of email management and archiving solutions such as Office365, Veritas Enterprise Vault, Autonomy EAS, EMC SourceOne, Symantec Messaging Gateway or Email Security.cloud

-Experience with SaaS-based solutions and public/private cloud infrastructure

-Experience of presenting effectively to large audiences on a variety of topics

-Experience of operating in an indirect sales environment

-Experience of working in a high growth and dynamic company

-Demonstrated success working with Fortune 1000 companies

-Ability to influence technical decision makers and executives.

-Track record of responsibility for project leadership and completion

-Ability to travel frequently
